I heard on talk radio that the Cowboys are considering Mike Zimmer for DC. IMHO he was a good coach who almost always got to the playoffs and had decent defenses.

Big Blue Huddle / NY Post Article
January 16, 2024, 10:48:47 PM
There is an article in the Post that tells the Daboll saga from supposedly the NY Giants view. The picture presented is much less harsh than discussed here and also paints Wink in an unflattering light. I know this has been beaten to death but what's been discussed here does not appear to be 100% correct. Worth a look and if true shows how words can get twisted.

Insubordination is performance. How one conducts themselves, especially in stressful situations, tells you a lot about a person. All of your comments seem to say Daboll must do something, I feel the opposite. If wink truly believed this was his destination job maybe he should have done something. Other than cursing your boss and walking out.

Mighty I would absolutely give them input and choice to start. If I see that the person has an agenda and is looking to undermine me then my decisions would reflect that, I made a mistake and need to fix it. I think this happens  much more than you think it's just that Wink aired his gripes and a public rebuke was needed. The guy cursed him out what else do you need. He had no respect for Daboll and showed it.

Disagree with almost everything. There can only be one head coach and a career assistant who thinks he is above the head coach must go. Everyone on the team will see this and know who is in charge. Firing the brothers IMHO was Daboll saying you can stay but I'm in charge. All during the season Wink undermined Daboll and Daboll took it for the good of the team. Enough of this nonsense either get with the program or leave. I don't think he will be that tough to replace and I don't think he did that great a job. We shall see. BTW the Jags just fired their DC and he could be worth a look.

And with all that 2 calls could have changed everything. The holding on the Adunze long con-pletion was bogus. What make it worse was an obvious holding call on Michigan's big gain. That's the brakes but I wouldn't make career calls off of this game.

Bravo, N.Y. is tough it's all about winning. Daboll will feel the pressure as he should, but screw the drama.

Mighty he fired his top 2 assistants. I think he was telling him it's my way or the highway.

Big Blue Huddle / Changes
January 09, 2024, 08:49:51 AM
A lot of comments on the staff changes both positive and negative. I also see comments that Daboll is on the hot seat and that this is a bad look. My take is that if the man is on the clock he should go with his vision and judgement regardless of the noise. For years I have heard that Mara has screwed everything and that no one else can make a decision. I say go out or in on your own and this way you can succeed or fail on your own. This season was a disaster and changes were absolutely necessary to send the message that it was unacceptable. Other than maybe 5/6 players no one s/b safe. I say go for it and let the chips fall where they may.

Don't worry theu will release him and he will be on the pro bowl/All pro list next year.

I haven't posted much or even watched all Giant games this year, as this has been one of the most disappointing seasons for me in the last 40 years. I'm seeing all this love for Tommy Devito and have to wonder if we have fallen so low that this type of play is encouraging. I watched Sundays game and to be honest, for me, it was one of the worst offensive performances by both teams that I have seen. I don't want to be a downer as we are all fans, but come on. I would love to get on this train but I'm not seeing it at all.

I can't speak to their skills relating to pro bowl but I have met Michael Pratt and character wise he is
a great person. He used to date the girl next door and you couldn't find a nicer more humble kid. I've seen Tulane 3/4 times and he has been very good but again how that translates to the pros is beyond my capabilities.

TUA WAS SCREWED HIS FIRST COUPLE OF YEARS BY A COACH WHO DIDN'T WANT HIM. He has the fastest release in football and is more accurate then almost anyone. He reminds me of Joe Montana. When he got hurt last year the air went out of the balloon. For those saying he doesn't matter I say you're way off base. I won't be surprised if he wins MVP.

P.S. He won a national championship for Alabama when Hurts was stinking it up.

He's a 24/25 year old kid. Who hasn't made mistakes at that age. He's frustrated and probably experiencing failure at football for the first time in his life. I think some fans need to get a life with this unreal overreaction. IMHO the radio guy is a POS.

The Front Porch / Re: Pink Floyd versus Led Zeppelin
August 07, 2021, 09:33:04 AM
One thing I found from my younger days was that seeing the band live could dramatically change your opinion. Floyd developed an incredible light show for their concerts that was copied but never duplicated. You don't get that impact unless you're at a show. Another example, for me, was the Allman Brothers. I saw them at the Fillmore east in 1970. They were the last show open to the public at the venue and my friends and I were determined to go. We didn't know anything about the ABB and thought Bill Graham blew it as there were so many more and in our limited view, better bands. It ended up being the greatest show I have ever seen and I regards Duane Allman as one of the greatest rock guitarists in history. I don't know if I would have felt this way had I not seen them. Any way you slice it Floyd and Zeppelin are 2 of the iconic bands in classic rock.
