IMO what they get out of this player could change a solid draft into a home run. Players from the various islands of the south Pacific have done well in the NFL and I see him as the player taken by the Giants who is most likely to exceed expectations (if you consider the round in which a player was taken as indicative of expectations). I think it came down to the trade for Burns.

With Pick 39, IMO they had enough ammo to buy Pick Three from the Pats (and take whomever - probably Maye).

So which would you rather have... Burns plus Nabers -or- Maye?  My favorite (Daniels) was already gone so I say they're better off with Burns and Nabers (and they still have next year's 1st-round pick in case they stink again this season).

Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 27, 2024, 09:20:38 PMYou do remember that Jones didn't throw a pass for the last 17 minutes of the Jacksonville game even when we were down right?

Or that he only threw for 173 yards against the Ravens, and it took an epic meltdown from Jackson plus a great rushing and defensive game from guys not named Jones to win that game.

Barkley was the number 1 back in the league through the first half of 2022, but but our qb that barely averaged 180 yards and 1 td a game was the driving force..

Hi,

I don't really have any issues with you, and I'm sure you're probably a decent to nice person in real life, but you've made it pretty clear over the years that you really don't like Daniel Jones, as you are entitled to your opinion.

But,

With that being the case, from time to time there are some posts that people make that make me say "Did he really just say that?", and this just happens to be one of those posts that I've highlighted in bold up above.

Daniel Jones against the Jacksonville Jaguars won "Offensive Player of the Week" in 2022.

Would you like to know why?

He was 19/30, passed for over 200 yards, 1 TD 0 Int, 94.0 RTG 88.2 QBR

He also rushed 11 times for over 107 yards averaging 9.7 yard per carry, including 1 rushing TD.

His go-ahead rushing TD with 5:31 remaining put the Giants ahead for the win, 23-17.

And he was the first player in Giants history to pass for over 200 yards, and rush for over 100 in the same game.

Equaling over 300 yards of total offense.

He outperformed Trevor Lawrence in that game.

So, I'll ask, are you sure you want to hold your position?

Here is the link down below to show you he won offensive player of the week against Jacksonville.

Enjoy

Big Blue Huddle / Re: PFF's grade for our draft ...

A fair grade considering they had a paltry six picks in a draft that was IMO deep in the middle. Luckily, they got a can't-miss starter in exchange for their own 2nd-rounder (which they really could have used this year). In fact, for those interested in getting one of this year's QB's (a group I believe was very sub-par) had they kept their 2nd-rounder they probably had enough ammo to move up in this year's first round to grab Maye or whomever they were after in offering to trade with the Patriots. Quote from: Jclayton92 on April 27, 2024, 03:41:11 PMWell Feliciano just had an elite season ala 81.2 pff this year after looking just meh as a Giant in 2022.
One player, one season? How many other teams have a revolving door for offensive line coaches? PFF is a poor stat I don't value.

Quote from: kartanoman on April 27, 2024, 10:33:44 PMWhat would happen if the Eagles paid North Korea's hackers to break into the network to steal all of the Giants' draft proprietary data?

Don't you all think each team has their own intranet, managed by its own IT manager / Information Security Officer, backed up on its own secure cloud, and power protected by their own battery backup / surge protectors?

Let's not start the Ronnie Barnes of the IT department now!!!

Peace!

I wouldn't put it past the Eagles to conspire with North Korea ever.

Guaranteed they have a contingency. I would be willing to bet there's a working fax machine just in case the worst happens.

B+ or A- seems fair. Giants addressed needs with talented players. I don't know what much more to ask for. Assuredly, some of these players will fail to live up to the draft pedigree, but for Schoen the process seems sound.

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on April 27, 2024, 10:29:26 PMInstead of drafting Tracy in the 5th round do you think the Giants should have drafted Rattler, Platt or Travis instead ? Wouldn't that have more sense? Actually I am not sure if the Jets had drafted Travis in the 4th round

Why? Did they think any of them were better than what they already have. I don't think so.

Big Blue Huddle / PFF's grade for our draft with...

New York Giants: A-

1 (6): WR Malik Nabers, LSU
    2 (47): S Tyler Nubin, Minnesota
3 (70): CB Andru Phillips, Kentucky
4 (107): TE Theo Johnson, Penn State
5 (166): RB Tyrone Tracy, Purdue
6 (183): LB Darius Muasau, UCLA

Nabers — The Giants were linked to several of the quarterbacks in the draft process. Instead of packaging picks to move up or sticking at No. 6 to bring in J.J. McCarthy, they bring an explosive receiver into a receiving corps in need of talent. Nabers recorded 44 receptions of 20-plus yards over his last two seasons, second-most among FBS wide receivers.

Nubin — PFF's top-ranked safety prospect, Nubin is versatile and impactful. He can be moved all over the secondary and handle the role, as he possesses a high-level football IQ and can stop the run with instincts to cover on the back end. Nubin sported a career-best 90.1 coverage grade in 2023 (first among Power Five safeties) and allowed a 33.0 passer rating in coverage from 2021 to 2023.

Phillips — The Giants drafted Deonte Banks in the first round of last year's draft and now add more youth to that group early in the third round this year. His career-best 23 defensive stops led all SEC cornerbacks in 2023, and his 72.9 PFF coverage grade was also the best mark of his career.

Johnson — Since 2022, Johnson generated a Big Ten-best 146.6 passer rating when targeted. Over the past two seasons, he has amassed 669 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns.

Tracy — Tracy is a good athlete — he recorded a 4.48-second 40-yard dash and 40-inch vertical jump — and should add some explosiveness to a backfield led by Devin Singletary. Despite being a six-year player in college, Tracy has only one season at running back, and he forced 46 missed tackles on just 114 carries in that 2023 season.

Muasau — A well-rounded linebacker, Muasau racked up 137 run stops since 2019 between Hawaii and UCLA in addition to providing value in pressure packages, with 107 total pressures in that time. Likely a core special teamer, Muasau has the football intelligence and tackling ability to hold up in a rotational role in a pinch.
