Exactly.

I feel like every year many people believe Dallas will fall off, and I wonder if some of that has to do with their postseason futility leaving a bad taste in everyone's mouth going into the offseason. The reality with Dallas is that they're very talented, and they draft well pretty much every year, but they have a QB who is only good and not great. As anyone who has been watching this sport with an objective lens for the past 15-odd years will have observed, it is all but impossible to win a Super Bowl in the modern NFL with just a "good" QB (Dak, Cousins, etc) on second or third contract money. That doesn't mean the Cowboys are not still a very good regular season team though.

Interesting. His proprietary "risk formula" should be able to be figured out using historical data. Otherwise, the only way to get it is to hire him, and he's probably had to sign a non-disclosure agreement, so even that might not work. I would think if the Giants read, or already know, this, they'd have a few of their math/stats gurus working on a similar risk assessment analysis and apply it. It seems to work

All my newspaper subscriptions (NYT, WSJ, FT) are online, but I have plenty of sympathy for a physical paper. I occasionally pick up a Sunday physical paper in the supermarket if I don't have many plans, as I enjoy reading the physical versions, but between the phone app and being at work during the day, the online subscription makes a lot more sense for me at this point. I also sometimes like reading some of the comments for certain articles, which of course you don't get with the print version.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on Today at 07:54:58 AMI won't disagree that Dallas might take a step back this year. I still think their floor is pretty high though. A step back for them might mean just 10 wins instead of their typical 12 or 13. Is our absolute best case scenario ceiling higher than that? Never say never I guess, but I highly doubt it. We did add some nice players, but we also lost some, and we have deeper holes in our roster than they do.

Quote from: Sem on May 03, 2024, 11:08:10 PMRic can relate. Growing up near Binghamton as a youth we had two daily papers. The Sun Bulletin, which was delivered in the early mornings, and The Binghamton Evening Press, which was delivered around 4pm every day. I used to like reading the Sun Bulletin's sports pages in the morning before heading off to school. But they never had the west coast baseball scores. No internet then, so I had to wait until I got home to check the late scores in the evening paper. At some point the two papers merged and became The Press & Sun Bulletin, which was delivered in the mornings. Some time around 2008(?) I canceled the paper though when our "paperboy" sued us for $50,000. I haven't subscribed to a physical paper since.

What'd you do? Steal his parent's BMW? LOL

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 07:18:45 AMI have to think the Eagles are the odds-on favorite to win the division.  I am not sure Dallas won't look very diminished this season.   Washington's standings will depend on how quickly all the draft picks and free agents can come together.

I think if everything falls right, the Giants could top out at 2nd in the division

Quote from: B1GBLUE on May 03, 2024, 03:24:55 PMfor sure...but he also had a good to great oline most of his career, and the perfect system for him to work in. think about how many guys they were able to swap out like edelman and welker over the years basically seamlessly. the system you are in can be just as important as the people executing it. save for the randy moss years, tom was never exactly airing it out. he was hitting guys underneath that could pick up YAC.

What evidence do you have to support that statement?  Concerning Brady, he had a completely new system in TB and enjoyed career years; conversely, the system you claim was culpable for his success has been abysmal since his departure.  The architect of said system, now has a record of 82-98 without Tom Brady. QBs like Brady and Manning are successful wherever they go, while their OCs like McDaniels and Adam Case are duds.  It should be clear as day the QB is more important to the system, than the system is to the QB.  In short, good QBs are going to be good, regardless of the system.

"save for the randy moss years, tom was never exactly airing it out. he was hitting guys underneath that could pick up YAC"

This statement is just false.

Brady is probably not the guy you want to use to prove that QB needs elite WRs to be successful, or an Oline for that matter.

Why do I feel like they are operating light-years ahead of the oft-injured Giants?
