Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants Sign Cade Mays G/C
September 12, 2024, 05:09:28 PM
What does this say about all of us to sort of get excited when we sign some guy who hasn't done much of anything, but has that dreaded word 'potential'.
I guess we are that hard up for anyone who can block someone.

For me it is the Giants hiring a string of basic nobodies to coach this team trying to find that needle in the haystack instead setting us up for disaster after disaster.
Gettleman and drafting
Barkley at 2
Jones at 6
And passing over Parsons for Toney

For me this is so much like the 70s when they kept bringing in old retreads for GM and coaches
(Robestrlli as GM, Webster as coach,)
Things didn't change until GY an impartial person was hired.

It's hard not to look good when you have time to throw to wife open receivers and I do mean wide open.

Just think how relieved all those other team are who were all set to draft Jones if the Giants didn't. Rodge, where are you when I need an answer
To have drafted Jones at 6 was a crime and we are serving the punishment.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Defense... Bowen needs to adjust
September 09, 2024, 09:31:33 AM
A couple of things on defense.
This had 11 sacks but most were in 3-4 games. I remember many posts about him not showing up for way too many games. He can control a game but they are far too many he just disappears. You can't count on him in a big situation. When has he ever gotten a sack when the team needs it,?

Lawrence is far and away our best defensive player. I understand it is only game one but he should be on the field as much as possible.37 plays just isn't enough.

Was anyone really excited when Bowen was hired. He has always been sort of average when much better candidates were around.

I read that the Giants played this game short players (not the full 53). Is this accurate ?. If so Daboll needs to be accountable for not being prepared for things like this.

Their best defensive player is in for 37 snaps.
Simmons doesn't even play one snap.

Who is making these decisions?

REALLY????????

The Front Porch / Re: What are we watching these days?

Just finished watching 'House of the Dragon' and enjoyed it very much. Season 2 was much better than season 1, with lots more characters and action, but still nowhere near Game of Thrones.

If you are a fan, I would recommend it. You don't have to have watched GOT to enjoy this it is a completely different entity. Many of the family names are alike, but this was supposed to have happened about 100 years prior to GOT. The only similarity is that they still all want to be seated on the Iron Throne and rule the 7 Kingdoms. After that House of the Dragon is a stand-alone series.

The Jets being the Jets, no matter what they do it usually comes out wrong. If Riddick doesn't want to play for them, would anyone think we should make an offer to the Jets in a possible trade> Having a former Eagle on our front line would be nice plus it might give us the best pass rush in the league. I know he ain't cheap but he is also one of the best. The Jets may be willing to unload him now when he sure doesn't seem to want to play for them.

Just wondering.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT - Congrats Saquon

I'm watching the game and even though I always respected Barkley and was very upset on the Giants not wanting him back, I sort of cringed every time he did something really good. Maybe it is just because when he does well it helps the Eagles, but when he scored those TDs I was sad in a way. If he had gone to Atlanta, I would probably rooted hard for him, but now, I sort of hope he is tackled for losses every time.

I know Tom Brady has a huge lead on him, but this is his eighth year, I believe, and look what he has already accomplished. It sure looks like, barring any major injury, he will overtake Brady by the time he is done.

I don't know, as much as I disliked Brady there is something about Mahomes that makes me dislike him more.

I was kind of surprised by some of these but in retrospect you really can't argue them

Hey Bill

Are you able to get games like this on that contraption of yours?

The entire Northeast was and probably still are Giants fans.
Why in hell would they want to show Pitts/Atlanta to them?

We will be in Northern Vermont and it looks borderline if the game will be on.
