Apes, Chimpanzees and Orangutans are entering the stone age. Orangutans mimic human activity.

Quote from: MightyGiants on Today at 08:01:54 AMTrue, but "fan" is short for "fanatic".  I sort of expect some fans to behave that way, especially ones who really liked Barkley and were hurt or felt betrayed by Barkley joining a despised division rival.   I would think the wealthy players who have a new base of fans supporting them and cheering them couldn't be bothered with the nonsense.
Did you ask yourself how you would react?

Neither can the ignorant fans.

If Tommy was in this years draft, he would have been sitting at a bar in downtown Detroit with Sam Hartman watching the draft.

Everyone likes Tommy and I hope he does well, but the Giants aren't going to carry three QB's and he's not making the final roster unless Jones or Lock get injured or traded. He's going to hit the waver wire and if he clears, he will wind up on the practice squad.

If they really believed in Jones, it would not matter who he was throwing to. Eli had some good receivers and a couple of almost elite and a lot of Jags. We're Nicks, Manningham and Cruz great receivers or did Eli make them look good? How would those three look on this team? The best receivers Eli had were Toomer, Odell and Plax. He found a way to get the ball to Smith, Tyree, and the rest.

I would have drafted Alt if not a QB. Evan Neal has to find a way to a starting role on this team. Either at RT competing with Alt or Guard. The best way to get better results from Jones is to protect him in the pocket. If you want to get his head clear, protect him. He didn't need a shiney hood ornament. Just ask this guy...

Quote from: katkavage on Today at 07:11:43 AMRight, the Giants rode that momentum of a winning season right into 2023, didn't they? Too much happens in the off season to ever think there will be a carry over. Not to mention what happens to the teams they end up playing and the schedule they get. When the Giants beat the Eagles at the end of the year in a meaningless game for both teams, pretty much, the Eagles were playing maybe the worst football of anyone in the NFL. I hope it carries over to this season. Doubtful though.

Quote from: katkavage on May 02, 2024, 04:42:37 PMI've never seen a correlation between the play at the end of one year and what happens the following year. Means nothing.
Unlike the 2022 Giants and the 2023 Giants.

So it's 89 skeptical to disappointed and 38 cautiously positive to excited. I'm in the "I'll believe it when I see it group. Although, to me, the keys are the Oline, how well the Defense starts off, can the Run Game be effective, and how well Jones & Co. can connect with the weapons. It often takes time for a new DC to get his players up to speed. It can be a few games or half the season. It may also take a few games for the interior Oline to work as a cohesive unit.

If Simmons can be used as a Blitzer from the Will Back Position to be adjuvant to Burns and Thibs in Pass Rush, that might offset the inexperience in the Secondary this year. I see him and McFadden sharing time, based on Down and Distance. Dex is going to be double-teamed and I don't see anyone replacing Leo just yet. Right now I'm more concerned about the Defense than the Offense. Minus Adoree, Leo, and McKinney, Adding Burns and Rookies Nubin-Phillips who will need time and Special Teams addition Muasau looks to me to be a 2024 step back but two steps up in 2025.

If all progresses well, then we are looking at Jones as the 2025 QB, and with additions from the '25 Draft and a projected 46 million in Cap Space, they could make a run for at least the NFC East.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on May 01, 2024, 09:29:29 PMOur QB room looks pretty bleak

Jones: two neck surgeries and an ACL

Drew Lock who couldnt beat out Teddy Bridgwater and Gino Smith (twice)

Cutlets, enough said
There could be some cause for optimism. It was reported that Lock wasn't serious enough about putting in the work t get to the next level but last year there was marked improvement. Maybe Daboll saw something in him. For sure he would drive the ball downfield.

As for Tommy, another year in the system and an off-season to prepare, might make him more effective. He was just thrown in there LY. The key will be if they carry three QB's this season.
