The Front Porch / Re: Rank Best Female Rockers
May 07, 2024, 02:59:02 PM
My list:

Joan Jett - Icon.

Lzzy Hale - Guitarist and lead singer of the band Halestorm. She is also fronting Iron Maiden for a few shows this summer I believe.

Ann & Nancy Wilson - I think if you name one to your list, you have to name both!

Orianthi - Incredible guitar player who backed Michael Jackson & Alice Cooper

Nita Strauss - also played with Alice Cooper and is the Officeial In-house guitarist for the LA Rams!

Plenty more deserving for sure, but that's my list.

I haven't seen the names involved in this latest round of cuts, but I wonder what is going on with all the shake up going on at NFLN? Something has to be brewing to "upset the applecart" so to speak with this much turnover.

I also said Yes when this whole "will he, Won't he" drama started.
He's not that big of a cog in the Giants wheel in my opinion. Definitely a replaceable part.
#4
Well, I like that he has a sense of humor

Jerry Jones is loyal to his players to a fault.
I mean, it's good to be loyal but he doesn't know when to let them go.
I don't think has any value at this point, Jerry just wants him to retire as a Cowboy.

I think after Nabers, Theo is my favorite draft pick.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants to wear 1933 Uniforms?
April 23, 2024, 01:24:01 PM
I'm not a fan of "throwback" uniforms or 3rd jerseys either. I see that as nothing more than a money grab for selling something new to the fans.
I guess I'm more of a traditionalist. I love seeing the Detroit Red Wings and the Montreal Canadiens with the same jerseys they wore since the 40's (or earlier). NY Yankee pinstripes are classic. Teams that keep "updating" their jerseys just never seem to settle into any kind of tradition to me and I think they franchise misses out.
How many different iterations of jerseys have the Jacksonville Jags had already? They've been part of the NFL for a relatively short time and they've already "updated" their logo, used at least 3 different helmet designs and more than once restyled their jersey I think.
And if you're the Tennessee Titan, why in the world do you want to wear Houston Oilers uniforms?
But, to each his own I guess.

The first name that popped into my head was Eli Apple. Reese had been jumped twice in that draft I think and it seemed to me like such a desperation pick.
As for most expected, that's an easy one.
Hint #1...he was touched by the hand of God. Hint #2.....he's a sure fire Gold Jacket. Hint #3.....Gettleman was in Full Bloom Love with him and let everyone know it.....
Saquon Barkley.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NGT Wilson Traded to Broncos

When I first saw the thread title I thought to myself, "NO WAY!"
I was thinking Russell Wilson got traded back there...HAHA!

Sad. He was a hero.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 22, 2024, 08:21:00 AMThis is absolutely true.   Rookies are not NFL-ready; they need to be developed (by quality coaching staff) into NFL players.   That's the part of the drafting equation so many ignore.
It's funny you brought this up, Rich. Just yesterday my friend and I were discussing that in the NFL, if you're drafted anywhere in the first 3 rounds, you're expected to contribute almost immediately. If you get drafted into the NHL or MLB, it could be years before the club brings you up to the "Big Squad". You play in their system, get conditioning and coaching and they groom you to be ready for the big leagues. There are exceptions of course, but most draftees are given time to develop.
I don't know how the NBA handles this as I am not a big hoops fan.
Funny how different leagues take different approaches to this.

Quote from: TDToomer on April 22, 2024, 10:47:50 AMBB said he was the only rookie he coached that was NFL ready on day 1, not of all time. Barry Sanders held out of training camp as a rookie and had 80 yards or so with almost no practice in his first game.
Yes TD, I misquoted that. BB did say LT was the only rookie HE Coached.
Thanks for correcting that.

According to Bill Belichik, LT has been the only rookie that was NFL ready on Day 1

I personally love the "unknown" that is the Giants draft plans at this point in time.
Whether it's because they have too many holes to fill or anything else, we've finally gotten rid of multiple regimes telegraphing their intentions to everyone, just to be outmaneuvered on draft day.
I believe we finally have a competent front office.
