If coaches don't count more than players that list Mighty posted of pff grades for all our olinemen would seem to negate all the optimism being expressed about how the Giants should have an average Oline.  OTOH, a bad Oline coach like Johnson can certainly have a negative effect.

Expecting our O-Line to improve to average is putting a LOT of faith in the new O-Line coach.

The QB is definitely the most important of the three legs.  And sometimes can overcome having one of the 3 legs being sub-standard.  But if both of the other 2 legs suck, as has been the case for the Giants during DJs tenure with the Giants, I don't think it matters how good the QB is.

Another point I heard from some talking head is that with so many QBs taken high in the draft this year there may be less competition for QBs in next year's draft, if the Giants go looking.

Go and look up the offensive line rankings Tom Brady and Eli Manning both played with in the prime of their careers.

It is no coincidence that both had elite level line play to give them time to dissect a defense.

And both times the Giants beat Brady-led teams in the SB they did it by breaking down his OL.

No.  I don't believe that the way to build an OL is to just keep throwing very high draft picks at it.  Someone (I think it was Rich) posted a chart that showed the Giants, far and away, have spent the most draft capital on the OL.  And got the league's worst OL for their trouble.
