I think it is a good idea.  At facility, they can be monitored.  Remember how much everyone hated that Shockey and the wr's wouldn't work out with Eli?  They would all go down to Miami.  Not sure if those would be included as part of a workout bonus, but the concept is there.

Quote from: katkavage on April 12, 2024, 01:40:51 PMJones was a projected 3rd Round pick. Gettleman screwed that up. It was his incompetence as a GM, not the philosophy that was the issue.
Jones was not a projected 3rd round pick. Argument can be made they could have taken him with 17 (or wherever they got Dexter Lawrence), but he was not dropping further than that.

If this is true, it is more ridiculous than what Chicago originally wanted for Fields.

I would not be happy.  Feel like the big prospect TE's never live up to potential.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 11, 2024, 09:34:36 AMI would be unhappy.  The Giants already have very good left tackle.  After that, the contribution to victory between an elite lineman and a solid lineman does not justify using such a high draft pick, in my opinion.
your WORST OLineman is more important than your best as the worst is who the D will attack.

I will never complain about talking OL in round 1.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: When is trading back too far?

6 --> 18 is too far to trade back in one shot.  One thing if they traded back to 8, then to 11, then to 14, then to 18.

Quote from: T200 on April 03, 2024, 11:34:53 AMThat's a Grand Canyon-sized leap, IMO.

I mean, which acquisitions are attributed to the GM and which are attributed to the HC? It's the GM's job to acquire talent for the coach to use to get wins on the field.

I have a hard time believing Schoen and Daboll are making moves because of the Ghost of Wink, or what the media might say.
I have to agree with T200.  If Martindale was still here, does Schoen not make this deal?  Secondly, they have not yet played a game without Martindale, so how do we know the defense took a step back?  New D Coordinator may be better than Martindale.  I think this was a case of an exec maybe "thinking out loud" or spitballing/brainstorming to himself and the reporter went with it.

Quote from: MightyGiants on April 03, 2024, 11:45:45 AMHow do Slayton, Hyatt, and Robinson stack up to the best in the league?

against the best in the league?  Which league?  The Ivy League? Giants wr's are better than any of the WR corps for any of the Ancient 8.  The National Football League?  Not even close to the best trios.  They are probably closer to the ivy leagues than the top of the NFL.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: How would you feel about this?

I don't want a TE in the first round. The "match-up nightmare" TE's that go early in the draft never seem to work out.  Off the top of my head, feel like the last one who did was Shockey.

Quote from: Rosehill Jimmy on April 03, 2024, 10:55:54 PMPretty wild to play what was essentially the full game with just 4 defensemen.  Fox had one of his poorer outings with numerous turnovers (one led to a breakaway) and getting beat a few times to the outside. Perhaps fatigue was a factor. Then again his shot/pass to Kreider for the game winner was a thing of beauty

3 point lead on Dallas and Bruins with 6 to play.  Funny that they find themselves in a dogfight for President Trophy with 4 more wins than the others.
Stars won last night, so they have 105.  I wouldn't call it a dogfight.  Not sure anyone really cares about the President's Trophy.  Do think they want the top-seed in East over Boston, though.  Other division winner will get a much tought first round match-up.  Then again, Boston fans thought they were getting an easier match-up last year.

I am strongly of the belief that if I make a selection in the poll then 1) the Giants will go opposite IF both are still on the board or 2) the Giants will take who I want and the player will bust.  So, not making a selection or even thinking about it.

Last night I asked my friend, "Did they put grease on their blades tonight instead of wax?"  Oh well, start another winning streak tomorrow.

Before Lafreniere's first game, found a sour ale from Quebec in a beer distributor on SI.  Sours are not my thing, but figured, "Why not?  It is from Quebec, let's start the era."  They were $21 each, so bought 3.  Had one that night.  One after his first goal.  Was saving the last for his first hat trick.  Since it was not capped, it was corked, must have lost a little of the pressure over time so it was a little flat.  But, finally drank it last night.

Quote from: MightyGiants on March 26, 2024, 09:49:52 AMNEW NFL KICKOFF PROPOSAL.

*Kicking Team: The 10 players cannot move until the ball hits the ground or player in the landing zone or the end zone.

*Receiving Team: All players in the setup zone cannot move until the kick has hit the ground or a player in the landing zone or the end zone.

*Any kick that hits in the Landing Zone (goal line to 20 yard line) must be returned.

*Any kick hits before the landing zone: Touchback to the 40 (as if it went out of bounds).

*Kick hits the Landing Zone, rolls into end zone and is downed: Touchback to the 20.

*Kick lands in end zone or goes out the back: Touchback to the 35.

*Onside Kick: 4th quarter begins, the team trailing has the opportunity to declare an onside kick to the officials. Current onside kickoff rules would apply.

*No fair catch or signal is allowed.

This proposal is just for one year only.

This feels like something that would be implemented in an elementary school PE class just to make sure everyone has to run on the play.
