I am not suggesting that Tommy Devito has elite or otherworldly talent. If you recall the movie, part of the impact Roy Hobbs had on his team is he took a team that lacked confidence and was stuck in their losing ways, turned them around, and got them to believe in themselves. When I see so many Giants doing the Italian finger purse gesture, I can't help but remember the lightning bolt patch Roy Hobbs inspired.

Tommy Cutlets has proven that he belongs in the NFL and, at this point, is at least a solid backup. His real impact is how he has inspired this team and got them to play hard and believe in themselves again.
I have rarely witnessed such a thing in the NFL.

The Natural is a great book, worth reading. It is a Greek tragedy set in modern times about hubris, which the movie doesn't really go into. Take from that what you will I guess.
"The Natural" has a tremendous theme song. They should play that at Met Life when DeVito takes the field.
