Title: Schoen says he can stay 3-4 or go 4-3
Post by: MightyGiants on January 30, 2024, 07:45:21 PM
Schoen did say he thinks the Giants have the defensive personnel to stay in a 3-4 scheme or pivot to a 4-3, no matter who they hire.

"I think the way we're built we can be 4-3 or 3-4," he said. "We've drafted that way, where we're not pigeon-holed into one certain scheme. I think where the personnel is on defense right now, whether it's 4-3 or 3-4, I think we can go out and play."

I feel like 4-3 may be better for run defense ....

How good would Thibs be with his hand on the ground though ? Did he do it much in college ?

I think Simmons/Okereke/McFadden would be a good 3 man LB crew as they are all three different types of LBs

Would def need one more pass rusher and beefy DT next to Lawrence though

I don't care what they want to label their base defense given that they will be in sub packages 70% of the time.

I will be unhappy if whoever becomes DC uses Lawrence in a way that he has less of an impact.

Part of Lawrence's jump last year was experience, another part was the way Winks schemed deployed him.
