One thing I wondered about was the sign threatening arrest for anyone interfering with play.  Did that happen often in the 1950s?  :hmm:  :hmm:

Good question! Before my time, but while we're asking questions, did Zion's Kosher Deli make a killer Pastrami on Rye with a "pick your own pickle from the pickle barrel?" We had a few places in Elizabeth, NJ, in the 1970s, which had that setup.
