Title: List 1 to 3 things Schoen and Daboll need to learn/change for 2025
Post by: MightyGiants on January 09, 2025, 09:36:40 AM
What are one to three things Joe Schoen needs to learn or do differently for 2025?

What are one to three things Brian Daboll needs to learn or do differently in 2025?

Schoen:
1. Fire Barnes
2. Figure out why our young recievers get placed in the doghouse
3. Allow someone else to evaluate Olinemen in free agency and draft

Daboll:
1. Give up play calling
2. Teach tackling
3. Play starters in preseason and have team ready immediately and after the bye week

To point number 3 under Schoen, the team hired Chris Snee in May to be a special O-line scout.

True.

I wonder (I hope) he is actually a big decision maker. I know he probably runs things past his father in law.

1. Hire new coordinators and publicly explain why they were hired, what the identity of each unit will be, and how each coordinator is the right person to implement that identity.

2. Prioritize finding a plus OL in the draft (ideally in rounds 2-3). And sign a plus OL in free agency.

3. Figure out the QB situation.  Finishing with a bottom-5 offense next year is unacceptable. Figure it out.

For John Mara:
Reflect on the fact that many people consider you a meddling owner, which you deny. Yet, in your impromptu press conference you showed very little confidence in Daboll and all but demanded he fire the defensive coordinator and give up playcalling. If that isn't meddling, I don't know what is.

                                            Schoen

1. Bring in backups for all O line positions. When the LT is out, that's 1 position weakened. Whet they move the RT to replace the LT, that's 2 positions weakened.
2. QB
3. Stop letting players go in free agency. The secondary was significantly weakened the last few off seasons.

                                              DaBoll

1. Give up play calling and get help with clock management and decisions like 2 pt conversions, on sides kicks, etc. 2 heads are better than 1.
2. More pre season time for starters, especially 1st & 2nd string QB's and receivers.
3.  Kind of the same as #1. Clean up some of these weird calls. (Trick, complex plays on 3rd & 1).

                                           Front office

1. Modern medical and training staff.
2. Rid the office of family and friends and hire experienced Professional football people to run scouting, draft and salary cap.
3. Mara-Sit back and let professionals run the team. Support them, don't make them feel their job is on the line every season.
