Who is your preference of QB the Giants sign in free agency?
Russel Wilson (who I think will be available) otherwise Jamis Winston all day
To me, the best free agent is somewhat tied to the QB they are targeting in the draft. Unless the Giants have pick number one, there is no way to know with complete certainty who the Giants can get on draft day.

Because he's a choker.
They are drafting a QB. Wilson is the best transition QB and would be a good mentor.

Not an endorsement for DJ.

That was my first thought. Although I also considered the possibility that it is a CYA move in case Darnold leaves and the team declines or DJ doesn't want to stay (I think this is less likely)
1. Wilson -he can win games and bridge for up to 2 years if we need time to develop our rookie
2. Winston - gives us a year of highs and lows
Winston - we're not winning this year. Let us be entertained.

someone else - -cheaper and maybe even better than some of these
I want whichever QB Pitt doesn't keep.

Yup. Something like this will play. I'll take Rodgers in pinch.
Not sure why DJ entered this, he'll be a great back-up somewhere. I have no doubt about that.

Darnold had one helluva season, it was even better than 2022 DJ, IMO. In the end they BOTH have had one good season out of how many? Seven? Eight? This is why as tantalizing as Darnold is amongst this group (not to mention returning to the stadium and the market where he sees all those ghosts) I cannot see us investing in him.
To me,(given the price tag) Fields is the pick. The ceiling for this kid is "really good starter and playmaker" while the bottom is "a pedestrian starter who goes through periods of trying to play hero ball and makes too many mistakes"
Either way we get a reasonable one year bridge while we develop a draft pick or get ready to pick one in 2026.
But imagine if Fields hit the ceiling. Think about how many sins that would forgive, and how the roster rebuild could be accelerated!

With Geno Smith headed to the #Raiders, the fallout is dramatic:
— The #Seahawks turn their attention to Sam Darnold, which means..
— The #Vikings Darnold era is likely over as they turn their eyes to Daniel Jones, though...
— Daniel Jones has options, with Minnesota and the #Colts being among them.
— Aaron Rodgers lurks, considering the Giants with the Vikings as a dark horse.
— Justin Fields has a strong market, as the #Steelers work to re-sign him, but the #Jets and others have interest.

As free agency approaches, the QB carousel is beginning to spin:
◽️ Decision makers around the league expect Sam Darnold to end up in Seattle on a multi-year deal
◽️ Minnesota will attempt to pivot and sign Daniel Jones, who is receiving interest from the Colts
◽️ The Vikings could show interest in Aaron Rodgers if they are unable to re-sign Jones
◽️ Justin Fields, wanted back in Pittsburgh, is expected to test the market
