Excellent- very smart player too
Does that take Travis Hunter out of consideration at 3?
In 2023 his PFF Coverage Grade was 80.5 overall. Used primarily outside.
68.4 Man 32%
76.8 Zone 61%
reported 3 yrs, $30MM is a team friendly deal for a #1 CB

Hearing it's being misreported and APY will be higher. That $30MM could be just guaranteed money.
If the Giants get a veteran QB today, I think they will have a good amount of flexibility at #3.
Was my favorite of the CBs available. So definitely happy with that.

I don't think so necessarily. I think their plan all along is to take a QB but if they go not QB they probably still take Hunter if he's there and have him primarily as WR2 and use him as CB3 or CB4 (depending on how you feel about Banks) so as to not overload him. And if it turns out he can handle more or is better as a CB than WR it's never a bad thing to have multiple talented CBs on the roster.
I know Bowen's scheme is supposedly zone heavy. Is there any stats that show how often they played man vs zone last year?
I think its a little complicated as some plays might have a little bit of both.

I think they would use Hunter as a WR2 in his first year if they still got him and let him play cb if there was an injury etc. Say they got Rodgers, and would have Naber, Hunter, and wandale which would be a solid wr core.

I wondered that as well as the offense needs greater improvement.

Banks- 32% Man, 56% Zone In Coverage snaps to Total Snaps.

Looks that way to me.
He was CB2 with the Saints. Paying him does not mean he plays like a CB1 plys there is his serious femur injury. In thinking more about this, Hunter may still get picked by the Giants to be CB1 or 2.

Paulson Adebo has 27 penalties against him since 2021, 2nd most among all NFL defenders.
He leads all defenders in both pass interference (15) and defensive holding (9) penalties.
His penalties have cost the Saints 40 total EPA (2nd worst) and 0.95 wins (7th worst).

#Giants' deal with Paulson Adebo is for $18 million per year over three years with $36 million guaranteed.

Ooof! So much for him being cheap coming off the injury.
I really hate the fact that he's the most penalized DB in the league. That's the worst trait a DB can have and generally not something they improve upon - you're either a high-contact guy or not.

Rich,
Do you happen to know if he is a good tackler?...I like he is in your face CB (penalties a bit concerning but if he's aggressive this is good)...hope he can tackle better than Banks does

According to PFF he has been good with tackling the last couple of seasons
Sounds good if he can stay on field. Coming off season ending. Leg injury
Another injury prone guy ? I hope not.
Not a lot of money so a good deal

This is the veteran presence I was looking for. He's already the best Corner on the team and we head into a CB deep draft. I would hope that Banks takes a step or two up.

I did a deep dive on the Hairston kid from Kentucky and if he falls to the top of the 2nd I'd love to grab him or Amos.

I don't see them investing a high pick at CB now that they're paying Adebo like a top 12 CB, drafted Banks in the 1st last year, and Phillips was among their most promising players last year.
Not to mention, they still have multiple holes on the DL, one at ILB, and could use an upgrade at FS.

Finds the ball
Has the most forced incompletions in the league the past 2 years despite only playing in 22 out of 34 games. That stat is bonkers.

Phil: He does play two positions, but, alas (IMO), it's a lot less likely he'll become a Giant.
That narrows the draft down to (my guess) trade up for Abdul Carter or (much much worse) trade up for a QB or trade down for some other player (my choice would be Tyler Warren).
Staying put would mean they PASS on Travis Hunter and have to live with that. What do you think?

Question for our BBH tactical gurus:
Is Adebo a Pro Bowl caliber CB?...if not, does he have a chance to be that type of player?

I think he can be, as long as he stays healthy, which this injury he should make a fullr ecovery but now he has to work with Ronnie.

Imagine if we strike it rich and hit gold with this guy!...and if Banks takes a big leap...

I wish that intelligence translated to less penalties. He's the most penalized DB in the league.
Doesn't matter if he forces incompletions on 1st and 2nd down if he's going to give them a fresh set of down with a PI or defensive holding on 3rd down (he leads the league in both).

I think we will all be very happy with Adebo
Banks is now going to be coverings 2s and 3s more often, so by default his play shoukd improve. Holland and a more experienced Nubin and Phillips in the slot and back end will also help.
This defense has alot of potential.

I don't think he can become that traditional shutdown number one CB. He can be a solid starting CB, with really good ball skills who will generate INTs and defensed passes.
