🚨 🚨 🚨

The #Jets are signing QB Justin Fields, per me and
@TomPelissero
, as Gang Green gets a new starter. Fields says goodbye to Pittsburgh after 1 year.

He gets a 2-year deal worth $40M with $30M guaranteed in a deal done by
@DavidMulugheta
 of
@AthletesFirst
.

That is the guy I wanted for the Giants . I guess Dobell didn't.

Me too; however, don't assume Dabs didn't want him...it could be a $ issue or Fields may believe his long-term prospects are better with the junior NY team.

Seems like a lot of guaranteed money for the player, but I guess when you earmark a certain number for the position it kind of doesn't matter who you give it to on a short-term deal.

Fields is hitching along with a new head coach. If it works he stays there awhile. Why come to a team with a HC on the hottest of hot seats?

Guys,

Last year when Fields got benched at 4-2 (I think it was)...Wilson went in and made the playoffs.

I ask you guys:

Is Fields better than Wilson or are they very close?

If the Giants signed Fields there would just be endless jokes about how the dropped Daniel Jones to sign another Daniel Jones. Haven't seen anyone in Jets-world lauding the move. He's a stop-gap with a lottery ticket chance at more, just like he would be here.

Most of these free agent QBs are stop gap.

It's a shame that this kid is such a talent and was dealt a bum hand. If he was handled properly in the right situation, he should be a much better player.

The other kid dealt a bad hand was Zach Wilson.

From my understanding Fields wanted a guarantee he'd start and the steelers wouldn't give him that but the Jets would. Just what I am hearing.

So the Steelers finished 10-7 which means Wilson's part in that was 6-5 and became more inconsistent as the season wore on. Fields had a legit gripe being benched at 4-2. I personally think he's going to surprise some people if the Jets OL holds up.
