Three teams (Steelers, Vikings, and Giants) need a veteran QB
The two left:
Rodgers
Wilson
So who gets left chasing Jamis Winston?
Steelers probably get Rodgers. I'm not convinced Vikings won't just go with a cheaper option believing in KOC to coach a Minshew-type up and knowing they can turn over the reigns to JJ at some point.
QB deals so far:
🏈Sam Darnold Seahawks: 3 years, $100.5M
🏈Justin Fields Jets: 2 years, $40M
🏈Daniel Jones Colts: 1 year, $14M
🏈Jimmy Garoppolo Rams: 1 year, $4M
🏈Zach Wilson Dolphins: 1 year, $6M
🏈Josh Dobbs Patriots: 2 years, $8M
🏈Jarrett Stidham Broncos: 2 years, $12M
🏈Nick Mullens Jaguars: 2 years, $6.5M
Still out there: Aaron Rodgers, Russell Wilson, Mac Jones, Gardner Minshew, Jameis Winston, Joe Flacco, Marcus Mariota, Cooper Rush, Jacoby Brissett, Drew Lock, Trey Lance, Carson Wentz, amongst others.

I am not alone I suspect in preferring us to take anyone but Rodgers and Wilson. There is no sense for me in tying up cap in a veteran guy who is not the future and who recent form suggests is no sure thing to win many games.
I'd rather take eg Jameis and a cheap deal for Lance or Ridder to fight it out. We then let the draft come to us. If Ward is there at 3, fine take him. If not take a McCord or Shough or ANO in a mid round and go BPA at 3,34.
So far in free agency Schoen has been disciplined and put the bulk of his money to younger players with a high floor and good ceiling. Why spoil that throwing $ at yesterday's men at QB?!

To your question, Schoen and Daboll need to show results this year. That would be the primary reason they would "spoil that (by) throwing $ at yesterday's men at QB"
Don't want Rodgers or Wilson. Can't see them getting Ward without a trade-up which I'd rather not see. Thus, I'm still promoting a tandem of Mariota and Dart at 34 or with a reasonable move up for a second go in Round 1. But, I'd be fine with Winston as the "bridge".
Cheers!

NY is the least attractive of the three for a veteran quarterback. I'm guessing Winston it is.

Dart will not be there at 34

I mostly agree with this, although I think Russ comes cheaper than we might think only because he really doesn't have any other option if he wants to start (Pitt will sign Rodgers, and I don't think KOC is interested in Russ).
So I'm fine signing him for 1 year, and then rather than sign a dart throw guy (Ridder, for example, is awful), I'd try and get Milton for a 2026 5th.
Then, like you said, let the draft happen. They won't pass on Ward if he's there at 3, but my preference is still to hold off until the 4th where they can choose between Cook / Shough / McCord.
Garoppalo would've been a nice get as a one-year fill-in. Patriots are doing well in free agency...as far as I can tell...which isn't much

I'm right there with you, I'd love a Minshew/Dart combo with bpa at pick 3.

My suspicion is that if we wanted Russell Wilson he would sign immediately. We are holding out for Rodgers and is why Wilson hasn't signed yet.
Kind of an out of the box thought but I'd love to sign Rodgers for 2 years, and trade a 4th or 5th for Milton and let him be the development guy. I feel significantly better about Milton than Sanders, plus this would allow you to use the entire draft for bpa to go with the great defense you've assembled. Use the draft for offense, and we could have a really solid squad.

I like the first part. I am not so sure about Milton

I think this is 100% correct.

I don't want to give any vet - especially Rodgers - a 2-year deal. Reason being is that even with a trade for Milton - which I'm onboard with - I still would want to draft a QB high in 2026. With Rodgers or Russ in tow for 2025, it's not like we're going to learn much about Milton. So we'll still need options - and while I agree Milton has promise - I think the '26 class of QBs will have upwards of 5 guys with at least as much (if not more) promise as Milton.

I'm curious why. Milton was terrible in college. He couldn't keep job at Michigan and he flopped throwing to wide open guys in Josh Huepel's Tennessee offense. I mean, you are a SEC fan, correct? You see how open Tennessee gets guys (heck, it got us stuck with Hyatt) and Milton took a good team/offense led by Hendon Hooker and performed at 1/3 of Hooker's level (different receivers than Hooker had, I get that). I know he had a great game for Pats last year in his one start, but Milton is not good, IMO

Us, of course.

He has good bones, what I mean by that is that he has a rocket for an arm, and is extremely athletic, I think he ran a 4.50 40. Had a really solid preseason for the patriots that had fans wanting him to start over Brissett. He then had that one game for Maye where he played really well. Daboll has done some really good things with Qbs that have great bones like a rocket arm and mobility. I'd rather him take a chance on Milton for a 4th than Sanders for a 1st. You're gambling with either one, but at least milton has done it in an NFL game and you're only giving up a 4th or 5th instead of number 3 overall.

No I agree with you,I'd rather take a shot on Qb in the 2026 draft as well. Was just throwing it out there as an alternative.

Well, if you want to guarantee the #1 overall pick, you should be screaming for DeVito to start all 17 games.

I'd rather pay the extra capital to move up next year than watch another year with Devito.

Why are some of us willing to accept guys like Milton, and Winston? To put it mildly with either one the dreck will continue. They are no better than the crap we have had. Yes I realize the QB room is empty. Sign a vet other than the two mentioned and draft two QB's. Dart and Cook, develop both. There is precedent. The Commanders drafted Griffin 111 and Cousins the same year, the pokes drafted Aikman and Steve Walsh the same year.
I find it fascinating we still don't have a QB.
Absolutely fascinating to imagine what is going on behind the scenes.

Absolutely no to Wilson draft the best guy or trade down ..if possible
