McAdoo wanted Mahomes
Shurmur wanted Allen
Daboll had Allen in Buffalo, and wanted Jayden Daniels.
We have been looking in the right places apparantly, just hasn't been meant to be.
Easy to say now, but Buffalo moving up to 7 to get him was seen as a gamble at the time. He had some serious accuracy issues in college.
And of course there's no guarantee he plays they same if he comes here.
His Offense at Colorado is putrid. He doesn't get an opinion..
So what? Was there ever the slightest doubt that Gettleman was going to take the Gold Jacket Hall of Fame Running Back Whatisname? So, while he is now up in the Cape, no doubt gloating about it, are we supposed to be mewling over the fact that he waited for another year to screw the pooch at QB? Moreover, why would we need Shurmur's after-the-fact info when Ed Vette had already told us that they would, or at least should, take Josh Allen with their No.2 overall in 2018?
The only possible reason for talking about it now is because 7 years later, we still don't have a Quarterback.
Cheers!

A day late and several million dollars short.
I said the same thing. If they were going QB, wanted Allen. If not, wanted Nelson. I also remember hoping the Browns took Barkley at 1 knowing they could still get a QB at 4.
I'd love if Allen was the pick...but that's looking at what Allen has become during his time in Buffalo. Do you really think he'd be the same QB if the Giants drafted him? Would we have corrected his flaws like Buffalo did or would we have magnified them? Sadly, i think the latter :'(

Meaningless wins have helped to extend our stay in the QB Hell Hotel.

I agree 100%, they not only have sucked, but they have also sucked at sucking, which is even worse.

But hey at least they're building a winning culture by beating up the Colts in December or a ridiculous 3 game Tommy Devito linsanity run! Think of the value in that! /sarcasm/
Effing Gettleman. and Effing Mara. ~X(

Sometimes, you just have to embrace the suck. Winning a game in a double-digit loss season is as helpful as a bandaid on a broken leg.
Nah, he should have FIXED THE DAMNED OFFENSIVE LINE, per his mission statement, regardless whether he would have chosen Allen or Barkley.
If you get hired to do something, and you tell the masses you're going to do something, and then you do something different, this is why you'll spend a plenary sentence in purgatory getting your arse slapped by the biggest wet noodle in the joint.
But choosing Jones in 2019 was a huge downer for me when the selection was made. No disrespect to Daniel or Dave Brown, but Duke QBs drafted in the first round put me in the fetal position.
If Schoen doesn't get it right this off-season, the angry mob will overtake 1925 Giants Drive, capture, tar and feather him and hang him at the 50 yard line in the middle of the Sardine Can while angry fans pelt him endlessly with whatever they can get their hands on.
He has no choice but to get it right. He will.
Peace!
It is reassuring to know that neither Gettleman, nor Shurmur, nor McAdoo, nor Daboll would have been as foolish as were the Jets to have taken Darnold in 2018 as is now asserted or implied. So, does that add to or lessen our anger, grief, and resentment over the selection of Daniel Jones in the Draft which followed? In any case, given the uncertainties still surrounding both of those guys, it might be the only worthwhile reason for this thread.
Cheers!
