How much would you be okay with the Giants giving up, to trade to the first overall pick to get Cam Ward?
If you had asked me this question before Wilson, I'd have said a couple 3rd rounders perhaps a 2nd rounder next year and a 3rd this year. Basically not enough to get it done.
Post Wilson signing...nothing. I'd rather have Hunter or Carter at this point.

I have heard reports that the first pick is off the table (because the Titans want too much) and others that suggest that it's still a possibility.

Everyone has their price. If someone offered a king's ransom for the #1 pick, the Titans would take it. Schoen ain't that guy.

I am hearing the Titans want next year's and 2027's first-round pick. So I hope Joe isn't that guy because that's too rich for my taste.
I like Ward, but I think there is a not-insignificant chance he could be more like Winston than Wilson.

Nothing. I am probably the biggest Cam Ward supporter here but we have too many needs to give away picks to get him. With next years draft loaded with high end quarterback prospects I'm fine with taking the BPA at 3 and running with Wilson/Winston for this year, and then going all in on a quarterback in next years draft while using next years cap space to ensure whoever that is has all the tools to succeed with.

I expect Joe to stay true to his comments in my signature. The Giants need a QB but it only takes one pick to get one. Giving up multiple picks for one player is a desperation move this year.

I don't want to give up multiple first-round picks. I also expressed by reservation for Ward.
That said, I would be willing to give up a good deal to take Ward (if Schoen and Daboll believe in him). The team would have Ward on a cheap deal for 3 or 4 years, and free agency can help fill the holes those lost picks would create.

It's not even that. It's 2 guys talking. Titans aren't trading that pick.

The smoke screen is Schoen making people think he's interested in moving up. I hope he has private meetings with the rest of the GMs

Tim,
I heard a report that the Giants did meet with the Titans at the Combine to discuss the possibility of moving up. As I said, the report went on to say the Giants dropped out when the price became too high.
Now if the Titans want to trade down and they were playing games to raise the price, the Titans might come back to the Giants to see what Schoen IS willing to pay.
It's the lying season and the speculation season, but it was interesting that the two GMs who could swing a potential deal were seen together. We know from Hard Knocks, that's how Joe Schoen likes to operate, in person informal meetings.
Two Thirds this year (65 and 99) and a Second and Fifth next year
Schoen always says he has trades in place ahead of time if the board lines up, could be that, but for later rounds too.

Don't forget the draft order rotates since the Giants, Browns and Titans have the same record.
Round 2, the Giants pick 2nd
Round 3, the Giants pick 1st
and so on

Gm: All true, but suppose we offer Wilson and [fill in the blank with picks] to move to Pick One and draft Ward (whom guy I'm not sold on, but I'd be ok with it - the Giants knows more about him than me). I haven't given up on this thought, although
@MightyGiants has offered a good reason why it doesn't make sense. Bob

I did? :-??

Rich: You wrote it's unlikely Giants would have signed Wilson only to trade him away, which is correct. That (to me) doesn't rule out trading him away. It's clearly not a direct analogy, but remember that the Giants drafted Rivers and traded him for Eli. If they could do that, they could do my scenario. Bob

Lol, Bob! A light-hearted comment to stir the pot with a  .
Peace!
Imagine we had just lost that stupid, pointless game we won...
Then we'd be talking about getting Ward with the first pick we held, or we'd be talking about pulling in a haul and picking archie next year.

I am torn on this. I mean, it's very tempting to consider this very valid point. On the other hand. logically and emotionally, there is little benefit to playing the "if only" game.

I wonder if half the people who want Arch, would still be saying they do, if he was not a Manning.

I suspect Arch will likely be good. For me, the issue is half the teams in the league are thinking the same thing. I am not liking those odds

What an absolutely ridiculous price, if true. Two first rounders to move up just two spots to take a QB who probably would have been picked behind JJ McCarthy in last year's draft?
I'd laugh in the guy's face if that were his ask and he were actually serious.

There will be a bunch of qb's likely entering the draft next year. We'll get one.

Does anyone think that Ward will develop into a top ten qb? That should be the question you need to answer if you are selecting any QB in any draft.

It wasn't "what if" at the time Rich. We held the 1st overall pick and only had to lose 2 more games in a season we couldn't buy a win anyway.
We blew it by winning a meaningless game.

If we're patient we can have our cake and eat it too. I think between Wilson and Winston they can push drafting a quarterback for another year. The hidden benefit of that is it gives the Giants one last chance to evaluate Daboll before letting him pick the franchise quarterback. If he gets fired after this year there is no guarantee the new coach will value Ward similarly.
