Right now, it seems it would be a major surprise if the Giants don't draft Abdul Carter at 3 (even Carter has indicated he believes he will be a Giant by tomorrow morning).
Does anyone feel it's not going to be Carter at 3?

I would say it is a 75% chance it is Carter. Browns could pull a switch-a-roo and of course Giants could go Sanders or another QB despite what all the reports are saying.
If he's still there!!! You're making an assumption that isn't warranted (that the Browns will take Hunter).
Two possibilities...
(1) The Browns decide they want Sanders (or some other dumb idea) and trade down to a team trading up for Carter. They have never said they will not listen to trade offers for Pick Two.
(2) The Browns wanted Carter all along and they take him, in which case the Giants (to my delight, if it happens) will be "stuck" with Hunter.

75% chance sounds about right. I don't see it as anyone else BUT Carter if we stick and pick @3. The value drop off if you take someone else at 3 is just too great.
The remaining 25% would be for the trade-down for the 'godfather' offer.
carter at3 is ok but I'd rather trade back and get Graham. we need DT more than DE. And just don't over-pay for a qb this year.

Rick: One of the "other" bad things about this picking third this year is...
I want Carter, Hunter and Graham (also want Tyler Warren, a guy who really LIKES playing football).
If the Eagles don't at least try to trade up for Warren, I'll be stunned.

Trade up from 32 to top 7 or 8?

coggs: I'd be fine with that, but the vast majority here would crap their pants. Bobcoggs: I misread your note. You're talking Eagles. At first, I thought "32" was a typo for "34".
Yes, that's about what I think they'll try to do (hopefully without success), but I personnaly would trade up from 34 to about 7 or 8 if he's still there.
THAT would cause the crapping of pants I wrote originally!!!

Seems in recent years we are always just out of the sweet spot.
But I'd be happy with BPA, whether it's Carter or Hunter.

DS: I agree with both of your observations EXCEPT I think this year we are right about IN the sweet spot. That's because I don't really really like any of the "top" QB's this year (even though I'm certain at least one of them will turn out to be a very good pro QB).
I'm just complaining that we don't have four first-round picks!
Where do you think the best spot to be is in this draft?
Bob
Giants seem interested in Hunter or Carter but I still feel unsettled it may be someone else. Two months ago I predicted a dark horse in Membou for OT.

Using the Jimmy Johnson model, the Jets 7th is worth 1500 points. The entire Eagles draft is worth 1117.4. They would need to add next year's first and that may not be enough as 4 of the picks the eagles have are late in the 5th round.

coggs: You're absolutely right about the value and the unlikelihood they have enough draft picks to put into a trade up that high, BUT:
(1) What if they the Eagles threw in A J Brown as part of the deal? He's starting to become "too expensive" especially when you consider his age. I'll even go out on a limb and predict they'll trade Brown tonight, regardless of why or for which player or pick.
(2) I think there's at least a small chance the Pats will take Warren with Pick Four (or trade down a notch or two, then do it). IMO Bill Belichick would have done it if he were still at New England. He KNOWS the value of having a TE who can block as well as catch passes and score TD's, and who LOVES playing football.

Obviously number 1 would have been great  I agree that the QBs this years are left to be desired. I was interested in Ward, didn't want to touch sanders as he is radioactive with his father and the hoopla, they already have a couple unnamed sources saying that they feel sanders had the worst interviews he had ever seen. He blamed his team, and made it all about himself, again take it with a grain of salt.
For me it be Ward, then BPA, which seems we are right in that spot. After that, the talk is we may try for a qb late first round that Dabbs likes, like Dart. If Dabbs is really sold on the QB I think you can be right it might be close to that sweet spot, but again, a lot of if's and butts and we missed out quite a bit by being played by other teams for multiple years just before we had a chance to pick.
I do agree that it can be a sweet spot, but obviously 1 would have been great, but if they get the BPA and the QB they truly want later in the first round or even 2nd, and clean up the Oline and a couple other spots, then I agree.
Carter or Hunter. That's my gut feeling.
