We got Dart for minimal draft capital! The team behind the Giants just gave a 1st round pick to move up. Well done!!
Good stuff and kept pick 65. Good stuff. Dart can sit and learn too, with Wilson in the room.
Can we get a good flex OT and a DT too?
If so this is a slam dunk draft.
I think you have to choose to be excited about the pick no matter what. We need a young QB badly, this was Daboll's guy, and we still got a blue chip defender.
I would also add that we have solid veteran QBs in the room, so there is no rush to put Dart on the field. I personally hope they don't for at least 4 weeks, if not well longer than that, including (possibly) the entire season. I don't think it will go that far, but I think it's important for Dart to gain some experience in practice and watching the season progress and really getting in tune with the offense beyond just in camp and this offseason.
I don't know if Jones was forced on Schoen and Daboll or not, but this is now officially their guy. I think we have to be excited no matter what our own amateur scouting reports are on this kid.

We'll get a starter at 65...i'm hoping for a guard; our D line is fairly stacked

I could see 65 being Alfred Collins, Joshua Farmer, Cam Skattebo, Tate Ratledge, or Savion Williams all of which is just icing on the cake.
I'm ecstatic, perfect 1st round. Thank you Jclayton for leading the charge to educate us on Dart. Fantastic day!
I'm ecstatic with how this first round is going...and Jess must be dancing in his living room...lol

That is what I am hoping for at 65 and 105. Would love a 2nd DT on Saturday, too.

With how notoriously close to the vest Daboll is, this should speak volumes.
We got a stud ER and our future QB for the next 5 years. And I'm sure that Sanders is good, but I feel much better about Dart. From here on, it's all gravy as far as I'm concerned. I hope they invest in the trench

Those are very good picks, but 2 upgrades per draft is far from the requirement to improve a team. You generally need at least 3 to replace your losses due to FA and costs. To improve your team you need 4 plus upgrades per draft.
I like Dart, though not necessarily as a guy to trade up for. It's not like last year when I would have sacrificed a goat to get a real quarterback in here. We have Russ and Winston. But, if Daboll is sure he's the guy...
At least we sprang for Dart and not Sanders. That would have been a TV-out-the-window moment.

I'm sure that they were thinking of the 5 years on the cheap at the most expensive position in the NFL. It's great to get a QB in the first round and get that financial advantage. And when you think of it like that, they gave up very little

McShay was absolutely spot on in his evaluation of Daniel Jones..so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt here

Regardless of who it was, it was time for us to start taking swings at the qb position.
I don't like the move but I understand why Daboll pushed for it and Schoen conceded.
Dart was my QB2 given how I saw him fitting Daboll's O but he has serious flaws and needs a ton of work. I think it is a one in five chance he becomes a good enough starter to justify what we gave up.
However, if Daboll wanted him and believes in him (and he clearly does) then this had to be done. It probably buys Schoen and Daboll an extra year on top of this season. It has to work though or it sets us back again.
It is hard to be confident in a positive outcome but they have taken the overdue swing and now we live in hope.

Daboll and Schoen on Dart
The mouth shrug on Joe Schoen was telling at times. I wonder what he's mentally struggling with. I think he loves the kid's makeup and personality and natural leadership ability. I think he may have had his own guy and was talked out of it and capitulated.
Welcome Jaxson "Dodge" Dart!
Carter and Dart it was a good day. The two players I wanted in the draft.
I like it !!!!!! The QB room is a whole lot different than it has been for the last five years ....with this room the Giants have the ability to win some games now , be competitive in their division and have a future starting day one of next season and beyond.
Absolutely love this pick. I've been high on Dart for months. Broke Eli's record in college now he has a chance to do it here in NY. Only 21 will be 22 when he takes over the reigns. I finally have something to be excited about!

Meddling Mara's ultimatum. It's possible, as many others have said, that this isn't/wasn't the year to draft a QB. Maybe he was looking to bolster the roster and not give up future draft capital so he can be prepared for 2026.

That's a good theory, Tim. He did solidify the QB position by signing W&W. Maybe he liked WWD for a year.
Jaxson Dart becomes the third QB from Ole Miss of note to the New York Football 🏈 Giants.Quite a historical connection continued.

They were not draft just for this season. Wilson is on a 1 year deal and Winston is not a starter.
Some more context on why the #Giants traded up to get Jaxson Dart, from multiple sources:
• Culture builder and competitor —reminiscent of Josh Allen in terms of guys wanting to play for him. He may be 21 years old, but leads like he's 35
• Elite leadership skills: Dart was a key cog helping Lane Kiffin recruit the portal at Ole Miss — watching film, making phone calls, texting, organizing dinners
• Giants felt "even more comfortable with Dart once the helmet came off." Commands a room
• Brian Daboll quickly realized Dart had the "heater" in his arsenal. Arm is more than strong enough
• Comparable to Bo Nix in terms of downfield touch throws
• "Has to win at everything. Not just football. Can be a card game, ping-pong, pickleball, basketball, Cherades, doesn't matter. The dude has to win."

Jaxson Dart rushing numbers compared to the top 10 ranked QB's in this class:
Attempts: 100 (3rd)
Scrambles: 45 (2nd)
Yds/Attempt: 6.5 (1st)
Yds after contact/attempt: 3.12 (3rd)
Missed tackles forced: 22 (3rd)
Runs of 10+ yards: 28 (2nd, Milroe had 30)
Jalen Milroe, Riley Leonard and Dart alternate in a lot of these rankings

Who is Jaxson Dart? Former Giants head coach Joe Judge told me this morning after sitting with his Ole Miss QB during Thursday's NFL Draft party inside a Minky Couture outlet in Ogden, Utah.
"Very sincere. Very genuine. One of the most instinctive players I've ever been around. Legit tough."
What struck Judge most — as his former team tabbed Dart as its next QB with Judge seated feet away — was whom Dart had chosen to spend his big moment with.
"He celebrated with the people who helped him get there. It was a mature decision. It wasn't about being in the spotlight. It was about being around the people he cared about."
I just watched this and am pumped

Probably a lot of the same things that have been posted but figured I'd share. My only real draft want was not taking Sanders at 3 or overdrafting a QB. I wanted Carter and got him, then found out about this in the AM before work. Bold move I hoped they'd do.
It's a calculated risk worth taking. If Daboll had a good feeling about Daniels and Allen but not guys who didn't make it then I trust this. I feel much better about this than Jones for what it's worth. Looks like he can ball and the 5th year aspect is important. Let Wilson do his thing a while, nothing's stopping them from taking a QB next year too if this season is an utter disaster.

"Mock the New York Giants all you like. They deserve it. But they have won a playoff game more recently than the Steelers — who haven't even been competitive in one in nearly a decade — and they made the pick the Steelers needed to make Thursday night.
"The Giants got Jaxson Dart. The Steelers did not.
"The Giants now have a potential franchise quarterback. The Steelers do not."
"Ben Roethlisberger clearly sees a little of himself in the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Dart. On his "Footbahlin' " podcast, Roethlisberger said he "really likes" Dart and praised him for his "gunslinger mentality," his running ability, his toughness and his creativity.
"There's just something there," Roethlisberger said. "Man, he can just make the ugly look good."
"Jack Ham, the legendary Steelers linebacker and longtime Penn State football analyst, told me he is "a fan of Jaxson Dart" and labels Dart an "outstanding" player. Ham would have endorsed the pick."

He seems to be from a wealthy family!
This is an interesting pre-draft discussion with Charlie Weis, Bob Papa, and Chris Bisignano.
One quick story - the first summer Dart was at Ole Miss Charlie was visiting his son and sat in on a QB meeting. At the end of the meeting Dart approached Charlie and asked if he could talk to him for a couple of minutes. Charlie said sure. Dart's question was, "Coach, what's the difference between a good quarterback and a great quarterback."
After watching this I'm wondering if there is any chance that Dart could Wilson Wilson.
