Title: Does anyone expect JS to try and get back into Round 2?
Post by: Dumpster Dan on April 25, 2025, 02:39:36 PM
Could he?

Does he have the assets to?

A lot of good players will come off the board before we get back on the clock??

Ever since he came to NY, he's been willing to wheel and deal - both up and down. So I suspect, if there is one particular player he really, really wants, and there's a good chance he'll be gone, I imagine he'd work out something. I think he has Thibs (and maybe others like Neal) as a card at the poker table

Should be a lot of players left at 65 though. Unless some team missed out on an edge and we can use KT as a trade chip.

I think 65 is either Kaleb Johnson, Cam Skattebo, Tate Ratledge, Joshua Farmer, or Savion Williams.

I think a small trade down in R3 to gain either a 5/6 or a 2026 pick might be more likely. I guess we might conceivably trade someone like Evan Neal to add a day 3 pick. Schoen is probably focused on adding one more impact player before draft ends (likely at 65/105). That could be almost anywhere on the roster if we are honest but the holes are less gaping than last year which is a positive.

Anyone of those would be huge if taken after 65--if they are still there

When i heard that we traded a 3rd round pick, I assumed we traded pick 65 and kept 99.  I think Schoen did a great job keeping 65. I have no problems with any of last years picks or the 2 so far this year and expect a good player with 65 tonight l.  65 is pretty close to the 2nd round

Dan: The short answer: Unless they plan on trading a PLAYER... heck, no. Bob

This team needs depth. It's a very top heavy roster. I don't see trading up. We needed to come out of the first two days with at least three big uglies in the trenches. Now it's not looking good for that. I really thought they had a great chance with their extra third and the composition of this draft class to build a great core through the lines for a qb in 2026 to be the missing piece.

And another thing, people are going to hate me for this but us fans ridiculously overate our own players trade value. Any of our tradable first contract guys have the value of a NY subway hotdog. I hope we get a nice DT tonight. I think thats what we need. Let's make this defense a powerhouse!

Dan,

They have 5 picks left and at least that many needs.  Seems unlikely the Giants will be moving up for the remainder of the draft

No. I don't envisage he does.

No because we need our 3rd, 4th and 5th round picks for quantity to hopefully hit on maybe 2 good players.  We are not one player away and can load up on one player.

They will do what their board suggests they should do including what trade options it may include which was precisely the case in Round 1. Obviously, we can have our own opinions, some may be daring, others sit tight conservative. That's why most folks are here, I would imagine. But either way, it won't make a GD bit of difference as we well know.

As more than a decade of mewling has achieved nothing by way of improvement, perhaps we might do better to just sit back and watch, Naw!

Cheers!

Would likely have to be next year's 2nd and maybe the 5th rounder this year.
