F@ck yeah!!!!!!!
Wooooo!!! F@ckin Hoooooo!
Yeah baby!!!
We are lovin' it here in Phoenix now!!!!
Local hero gonna make the Giants fun again!!!
Get ready!!!!
A nice weapon to have
I've been asking for this since December - perfect complement to Tyrone Tracy
"Scatman" Skattebo
I'm happy - a great compliment to Tracy. Has a lot of Larry Czonka in his running style. I love a RB who just plain says, "you are not going to stop me, and if you try...you are going to hurt". Wasn't that also Payton used to say/do..."I am going to hurt you so bad, you won't want to try to tackle me again"
Love this draft. Might take a miracle, but maybe Slater slips to the fifth round - fingers crossed
You have to be fn kidding me?
This draft keeps getting better and better.
The last few picks don't even matter
Carter, Dart, Alexander and Skattebo is a stupidly amazing haul
Some highlight film:

Excellent!!!
Such a great draft
Schoen has earned him 2 more years minimum

They are killing this draft! I hope it works out, but the process has been sound!
What I wanted yeah
I was listening to the talking heads after the first round was over, and the question was asked, "Who won the first round". It was unanimous that the Giants did, and that it was hard to argue against. Well we've added a monster defensive lineman to play next to Dex, and now Skattebo...unf-greal
I thought he was a second round or top of the third prospect.. he fell to us and we got lucky.
Now let's get an OL 🙏🏻🌹🥳💪🏼👏👈🏼

New Giants RB Cam Skattebo joins Saquon Barkley and Kenneth Gainwell as just the third RB drafted since 2017 to rack up 600+ receiving yards in a single NCAA season.
He also had a higher yards per route run than Barkley & Jahmyr Gibbs.
Immediate fan favorite.

From a traits standpoint, what stood out most to me watching new Giants RB Cam Skattebo on All-22 was his combination of ELITE contact balance + low center of gravity he runs with.
But he really had almost every trait you look for (burst, physicality, route running, hands).
Needs to work on pass protection technique but he sure tries hard.
From a traits stand point - does he have the speed and quickness need at the NFL level ?
Watching his highlights he looks like he lacks quickness, and definitely speed.

Reminds me of Maurice Jones Drew, guy never goes down.
This is awesome! I'm beyond pumped about this pick. What he did in the CFP game against Texas' studs was unreal. This guy is an animal, and he is going to be a fan favorite.
His speed is good. He's in the 4.5s. Plenty of top end RBs with that type of time. What most don't have is his degree of physicality, balance, and toughness.
Tremendous pick. Will really round out our RB room.

Jerome Bettis ran a 4.7
Larry Csonka ran a 4.64
Jim Brown ran a 4.58
Cam Skattebo ran a 4.57 at his pro day
Judging by the film, he might get off slow, but has decent speed when he's got an open field (late speed is what they call it, I believe). Regardless, it's not his speed that makes who he is and why he's successful. A lot of speed guys tend to go down the second someone touches them. As a reminder, speed is nice, but football isn't a track meet. It's about love of football, and being tougher and meaner than your opponent. I'm sure Skattebo will be just fine for us

And hands. He is a natural catcher of football. That route and catch against Texas (it's on the YouTube video that bighitterdalama posted on 1st page) was a thing of beauty that most RBs can't do or make

I don't want to be too hyperbolic, but this young man has always reminded me of Tiki Barber; he moves like he's on skis. To be clear, he doesn't have Tiki's twitch, but I see similarities.

He reminded me of Joe Morris, the short, squat back you just couldn't bring down
The way he takes hits reminds me of Jacobs... Although this dude is certainly a lot smaller, but he's a tough boy.

Guess the 🐈 is out of the bag now.
Soon, the "Legend of Cam Skattebo" will be front and center on every NY Metropolitan area news website.
We've adored him here in Phoenix. He is exactly what the Giants need right now to lift the attitude and spirit of the offense.
Inspirational.

He was pounding telephone poles at the age of six. He loves contact.
Friend of mine whose opinion I value said, "If Dave Meggett and Mark Bavaro had a baby." Worries about his body holding up long term as he has had a lot of touches in college. He will bust people's ass. An attitude guy who can change a culture.

I was thinking the same thing. The biggest hold back for RBs in pass protection, is they don't particularly like getting physical, and mostly get in the way like a nuisance. I think Skattebo will probably try to hurt a LB or S trying to get to our QB. I have to believe he'll be great at it

Yeah, I've been more focused on my futbol team, who only need one draw in their last 5 games to win the Premier League. It's not like the Giants have given me much to get excited about, or even interested in. I'm not as hard-core as a lot of you guys. But I am getting excited by this FA/draft season. As an eternal optimist I think the Giants could surprise some folks.

IMO there is some undeniable evidence that we are actually turning the corner... this time.
Let's see how much of the squad makes it to June (and then to September) healthy.

he plays fast, has some lateral and diagonal moves too, rather than just strait ahead. Outruns a fair # of LB's and DB's. He will be fun to watch.
He's a guy that will break you..when you need to stop a drive..get the ball..back..Giants football..eat it..the identity of this franchise is toughness..not flash..attack..sustain..out will you into defeat..that's the Giants formula..
I want a Skat jersey..can't wait to order one...watch out division opponents...this guy is mean ..will street fight you..gonna be a crowd favorite, if not already.

I was surprised he made it into the 4th round. I know his measurables are not the greatest, but this is a case where the film says so much more.

uconn: The consensus is that he's as good as he looks in the highlight reel but he's going to get himself killed in the NFL. Let's see if he can get through his first season without a serious injury. If he had had the same highlight reel playing in the SEC or Big Ten, he would have been picked in the second round. Bob
We're going to have a lot of GMFB Highlights during the "Angry Runs" segment. <:-P

Larry Csonka's, Jeromme Bettis', etc., didn't have great measurables. What they had was "heart" and an "f-u attitude" towards anyone who thought they could stop them
It's been said a thousand times on here, but worth repeating. The most important characteristic in an NFL football player is not speed, how far you can throw, etc., -it's "heart". And there's no tool to measure it, but you can see it in the way they approach the game. Skattebo has it in spades

As Carl Banks likes to say, analytics can't measure a heartbeat
Anyone remember Mark Van Eghan of the Raiders? Norm Bullach of the Colts..I think I spelled them right..they were the toughest guys out there..
Skattebo is cut from that mold..throw in Dave Osborne of the Vikings..too to
Plus..this guy is versatile..
can catch..and look to destroy you in your tracks ..
Pass protection..and fumbling are some reasons he lasted..but what fierceness..he will get into the end zone..a fan fave already

How appropriate we just had a Rob Carpenter thread. If Skattebo plays anything like that, I'll be in line to get his jersey!

As we all look again and again at the draft and marvel at how well the Giants did perhaps the best move JS made was picking Skattebo in the 4th
JS said it was him and MBow and he said " we will go with Skat" Feeling that he wouldnt be there in the 5th and it turns out that Mbow was and we ended up with both of them

Maybe when my kid gets older I have them hit telephone poles too.
From what I've learned .the Bears wanted Skat very much. Got clipped by the Giants. I mean. It really does appear the Giants Intel was very good in accessing value and other teams interests.
Skat Man!!
The thing about Skattebo...
As the season wears on, he will be murder on LB's and DB's in the run game, when their bodies ache all day and they really don't want to tackle (just try hitting the runner to see if he goes down).
The bottom line IMO is to pace himself with a goal toward lasting all 17 games. Don't try to be too much of a hero early. The guys he'll "encounter" in the NFL are bigger and faster, and THEY can hurt him. Bob
Bob
The genuinely tough, physical, run through them RBs often prove surprisingly durable in the NFL despite their style helped by a mindset that sees them suit up unless a limb is falling off. Let us hope he is a case in point.
The more I watch of him the more I see an elusiveness coupled with being tough tackle. I don't see him initiating contact and looking to lay out guys, although he will lower the shoulder at some points.
He kind of reminds of a Duce Staley type.

Absolutely. He has great vision from the time before he's handed the ball, throughout the second level. He avoids hits with a simple cut.

The only thing Skattebo lacks is top-end speed. So you will have to settle for tons of doubles and triples over some home runs

I hope his game transfers to the NFL. In the NFL, players tackle better and are faster. I was more partial to Tuten as he has legit 4.35 speed and is more of an Achane type breakaway back.
