Good blocker and above average hands. Young and raw. This is not a day one starter. This is a pick for the future. Needs to build his frame, could be a solid contributor two years from now.
He looks very fast, good hands, appears to want the ball badly
History of knee issues. Hopefully that's all behind him and he can compete for a roster spot. Practice Squad is a possibility too.
Used mostly as an H back or in the slot. Not much as an inline TE. Nice hands; excellent YAC.
Have to wonder (out loud) if Fidone and Bellinger will be battling it out for one of the depth TE roster spots. Surely, the Giants wouldn't be able to keep both?
Query your thoughts on that.
Peace!

Yes. Noted but they occurred in his early collegiate years so he should be fully recovered by now.
His numbers from the final two seasons appear he has moved on from the injuries no worse for the wear.
I look forward to seeing how he measures up against Bellinger in camp.
Peace!
Great back story on this kid. Highest rated TE in the country coming out of HS. Tore his acl his freshman year...fought all the way back only to tear it again!
So when he came back, he only played part time, but made the best out of every snap. Nebraska HC raved about him.
Scouting Report: Summary
Fidone brings legitimate vertical stretch capability with his 4.70 speed and outstanding catch radius, making him particularly dangerous on medium crossing routes where he consistently wins against linebackers. His soft hands when plucking passes away from his frame compared to his developing blocking technique paint the picture of a mismatch weapon rather than an every-down in-line tight end.
Looking forward, Fidone's developmental arc hinges on adding functional mass to his long frame without sacrificing the athleticism that makes him special. His superior effort as a blocker provides the foundation, but technique and power must catch up to make him more than a situational player. The flashes he showed in the red zone and as a seam-stretcher aren't flukes – they're indicators of a passing game threat who can create separation against linebackers and use his length against defensive backs in contested situations.
The right fit for Fidone's skill set comes in an offense that prioritizes multiple tight end sets where his receiving prowess can be maximized while his blocking development continues. His competitive temperament and academic achievements suggest a player who will attack his weaknesses with the same intensity he shows between the whistles. While injury history creates some projection uncertainty, his physical tools and natural receiving ability point toward a player whose ceiling remains tantalizingly untapped. Expect him to contribute primarily in passing situations early while developing into a more complete tight end.

Chris,
Fidone is listed at 6'3"/243. Doesn't look very thick. Bellinger is 6'5"/253, an inline TE. Probably translates more as an H-back receiver/#3 TE. Lawerence Cager except (hopefully) good.

I notice this draft has left you speechless...lol

Anyone who can come back from a dreaded ACL tear, and be able to play hard and be effective, is a remarkable person, first, and athlete, next. To do the same ACL TWICE, both before ever setting foit on the collegiate gridiron, and having an undoubtable will to overcome that same obstacle TWICE, is an amazing and inspiring human being. That's even before he has buckled his chinstraps for his first practice.
Maybe it's just me, but I'm starting to see a trend here that the Giants have drafted players of strong mind, heart, will and determination, in addition to talent, that I cannot seem to shake the idea that Schoen and Daboll are looking for players with a certain mindset to build and evolve the Giants culture into something much more closer to the heart and meaningful to truly make the whole greater than the sum of its parts. I can tell they have tried, but this draft is going to make a difference once they're fully indoctrinated with the team. These kids coming in are going to shape the unity in the locker room in ways that will translate on the football field for us all to enjoy and celebrate.
One more to go and fingers crossed for another hard working, inspirational leader-type player to round out arguably one of their best drafts in decades.
Peace!

Lol, the spider chart is an excellent KPI representation of the performance elements of a system or, in this case, a person.
We use these all the time in the Engineering Management world.
