From the internet- "How can Eli be an owner of the Giants? He already owns the Patriots."
Interesting thing, the eagles didn't really get crazy good until ownership sold of a stack to private money. Thats when they got the cash infusion to carry heavy cash burdens against cap right away. Maybe it helps us.

It'll definitely help us if he can provide the sounding board for Mara to give all of his "thoughts" to while allowing the actual GM to make his own decisions and run the franchise the way it needs to be run.
Why will Eli be good? Because he played? Because we like him?
How did Derek Jeter do?
Different skillset. I trust a PE firm to achieve success more so than a player. PE dont throw stupid money out and they fire bad decisions quickly.

Maybe he can get Mara into a good fantasy football league so he can get all of his GM wannabe energy out there.

The actual sale wasn't finalized until December 2024, but Lurie could have been anticipating the funds, so he was willing to carry more cash over cap than he normally would.

Rich: One of your Top 10 all-time. Bob
The most interesting result of this will be if one of the 50/50 owners says "yes" and the other says "no."
In that event, it will tell us something (maybe something we don't already suspect) about the Giants.
Should have mentioned a while ago - part (actually almost all of the key cards) of my complete Eli Manning Topps Football collection was sold directly to the man himself (through an intermediary who IMO overpaid me; they're for Eli's son; no, I didn't get to meet him).

Bob,
From what I understand, these shares teams are selling are passive shares. They don't come with voting rights or team control. They are intended as a means for owners to cash in on the rising price of teams and give investment groups an opportunity to enjoy the returns NFL owners have been enjoying.

Too bad. Was already cogitating if it's a good thing or a bad thing. Turns out it's just a money thing. Bob

If successful he'd own 10% of the team making him largely irrelevant to the day to day operation of the team. Outside of goodwill he'd have no power, so who cares?

I think it matters quite a bit. This is different from Brady and his slice of the Raiders. He has no obvious inherent influence there.
Eli is an iconic Giant. Even though he would be a minority interest (by a huge margin), his voice carries weight in that building.
I'm not suggesting he will be an authority figure or will be able to change Mara's mind about something that his mind is made up on. But I think he is a guy who when he airs his opinions, they'll carry some weight.
