Better numbers all around for Russ.
Russ age is a concern, but I also feel good about him, since I feel our weapons corp is much better than what Pittsburgh had last year, or Denver the year prior.
I hope he works out this year.
Let's embrace the obvious...Daniel Jones performance level was abysmal the past two seasons. Shell shocked and panicky...
Almost any QB in free agency was an upgrade..i.e. Wilson.- transition figure. Addition by subtraction.

As mentioned in the QB breakdown thread, the biggest concerns with Russ is his height (which limits his targets to the middle of the field, and (as you mentioned) his age, as it relates to a seemingly decline in his athleticism which was the tool Wilson used to offset his height issues.
I will say one thing, Russ is in his mid-30s, not nearing or past 40, it seems like his athletic decline is more than what would be expected for his age. I wonder if Wilson has been less inclined to use his legs as he has gotten older. He would hardly be the first (in fact, most QBs tend to do this) to gradually rely more on pocket passing as they get older.
On a side note, I am surprised that Winston's numbers last season were nearly as bad as DJ's

Probably worth noting DJ threw amount 50 more passes, and Winston starting 3 less games. But yeah, I was still surprised at JWs chart here. Not a fan of that 39%

If you look at the first row, it's the number of pass attempts (air yards over 20). DJ had 20 and Winston had 23

Oh I know, wasn't questioning the data, I was just saying with DJ throwing 341 passes vs Winston throwing 296, Jones has a much lower percentage of deep balls thrown.
To his credit (Jones), it seems his were deemed more catchable though.
Both are bottom 5 qb's in the league. After the neck injury, Jones just had no accuracy. Shell shocked, too many coordinators/coaches. Just totally cooked. Not even an NFL level qb at this point, physically and mentallity. I am going to watch all of his games as Colt and hope he can do well.
Sick of the Giants and Russ himself trying to convince me that a qb1 on his 4th team and closer to 40 to 30 is going to give us more than a handful of league average games. This season is all about the defense and Jaxson Dart. Russ is just a red herring. This team is known for creating distractions or blaming wink/bowen/jones whomever for others to keep their jobs, or to hype fans into buying 100th anniversary jerseys, and psl's.

I mean we could have always given Jones' cousin 275 million.

and how was the oline from Russ compared to DJ as well as the weapons?

I will give you the important PFF grades. Keep in mind that they will be somewhat skewed in terms of pass protection (the few games with AT, the pass protection was better than was worse right after AT got hurt) and receivers (Nabers missed a couple of the games DJ played in, and I believe with the Steelers, Pickens missed a couple of the games with Wilson).
Pass Protection (PFF season grade)
Giants- 57.6
Steelers- 61.6
Receiving
Giants- 57.6
Steelers- 73.5
In my opinion, the Giants had the better offensive coaching. That said, it seemed like in 2024 Daboll abandoned any efforts to customise the offense to DJ's strengths.
