That took long enough.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on June 04, 2024, 05:58:28 PMThere is no way anyone could predict he would retire. Him on the field easily value that of a 3rd round pick.

I'm sorry but Schoen can't be these guys daddy and talk them into playing. It is not on him. He took a swing that was universally praised and I'd rather him keep taking swings than to be conservative and do nothing.
This is a really good point. A year ago, we had no way of knowing his personal life or motivation would be an issue. We were just rolling the dice on a talented player with a checkered medical past.

There are many similar trades that can be made to look much worse in hindsight than anyone believed at the time.

If I were a minor beat writer or self-proclaimed analyst trying to sound smarter and more informed than I really was, I'd probably jump all over it too.

I admire his confidence.

The odd sack here and there is accepted as an occupational hazard. It doesn't necessarily lead to the breakdown of an offense. The same is true of constant pressures that never actually get home (and leave open escape routes for scramblers).

What really matters is that your scheme, whatever it is, mentally affects the opposing quarterback; makes him question himself, his coaches, his line, everything. If your defense gets in his head, the greatest line in the world can't protect him.

In 1984 Bill Parcells said "if I'm gonna lose, [at least] I'm not gonna lose with those same guys." He was explaining why he'd added 20 new players to the roster and given the starting QB job to Phil Simms over Scott Brunner, who was traded away in the spring.

In his second year Parcells had already identified the guys who were most conspicuous in losing us games and moved on from them. He'd spent 1983 trying to be a conventional coach--an organization guy, the Maras' guy--and when it didn't work, he adjusted quickly.

It's time for Brian Daboll to make a similar adjustment: stop clinging to the starter John Mara likes and make a change. That way, if we lose again in '24, at least it won't be with the same quarterback who is already shell-shocked from all the sacks he's taken.

Am I making sense here? We seem to be trapped in an endless cycle of arguing over who is to blame for Daniel Jones' struggles. But eventually we reach a point where it doesn't matter whose fault it is that Jones is failing; what matters is that he is failing, that the failures make him an albatross around the team's collective neck, and the coach needs to change things up.

So while I don't expect Daboll to trade Jones or even give someone else the starting job, it will be an incredible relief if he does. And it will inspire within me a little more confidence in his leadership.

Those were the three guys I guessed before I opened the thread.

What do I win???

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Is Malik Nabers Qb Proof?

No receiver is really quarterback-proof. That was my point leading all the way up to the draft.

I'm glad he got paid, but I have no desire to see him succeed for a rival team. Just because the Eagles can afford him doesn't mean they deserve him. So, I picked option 4.

The prices make absolutely no sense. The design isn't even that special or interesting. No Giants logo even.

You could buy a generic custom t-shirt with "1925" on it for what, $20?

Quote from: uconnjack8 on May 16, 2024, 03:47:03 PMCan you buy them yet?
I was wondering the same thing. Checked on Fanatics yesterday... alas, no Century Red gear yet.

(They DO have gear with that awesome 100 Seasons logo so I snapped up a t-shirt.)

True to the name, these were put together from what we actually wore in the 1920s and 30s. If Mel Hein, Benny Friedman and Tuffy Leemans wore elements of these uniforms, I sure don't have a problem with them. Roll on Big Blue!  <:-P

Bet you they start us off against the Eagles this time.

PFF might actually be right about something in this case.

Phillips defends the slot... Nabers is a superstar at the slot. Looking forward to that matchup in training camp.

Nah. They like Jones too much to not start him.

Do I think Lock will have to replace Jones at some point in the regular season? Yes.
