Quote from: DaveBrown74 on August 08, 2024, 07:31:05 PMLock needs to see Nabers there. If you can't see a wide open Nabers you shouldn't be a QB on this football team.

Remind me again why we kicked Taylor to the curb for this guy for not dissimilar money?
Helen Keller would have seen that.

Can we close this thread now?

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on August 01, 2024, 06:58:58 AMDo we have any concerns at all about Van Roten's age? I appreciate he put up a 75 PFF last year and seems to still be good, but 34 is up there.
Not for 1 year.  If it was a multi-year, then yes.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on August 02, 2024, 07:17:53 PMThere are just as many posts about the weak O line being the reason Jones has not been a very good NFL QB as there are about Jones not being a very good NFL QB.

And 99% of the O line posts come from those who complain about the presence of critical Jones posts.
It is pretty much the same pattern everytime.  Someone starts a thread about "Player X".  Someone posts about Jones this and Jones that. Then, someone brings up the OLine and now the thread about the back-up wing guy on the scout extra team turns into an argument about Jones.

Quote from: Trench on August 02, 2024, 11:46:46 AMDoes anyone know if we have the ability to login to our Optimum Altice cable provider (from another state) in order to watch a Giants game while on vacation?
If it is a national broadcast (mnf, snf, tnf) it should not be a problem.  You may not be able to use your normal provider app.  When Giants played Vikes in playoffs I was in South Jersey for a my daughter's tournament.  Had to find an app as I could not use my Spectrum App for any of the OTA channels.  If it Sunday at 1 or 4, you can only get it if the game is being shown in your locale.  If you are abroad, no idea.

With each deal it affirms by belief that these QB contracts are nothing more than a dick measuring contest between the owners.

Quote from: MightyGiants on July 25, 2024, 01:37:44 PMI am not sure I would call it that because it was not very good, nor funny sarcasm.  It's funny, @coggs loves to fanboy Ronnie Barnes, but he doesn't want to address his medical staff failing to diagnose Neal's ankle fracture (they had him practicing on it, which is likely why he is on PUP), nor did he want to address the complications Waller suffered from the treatment that he felt nearly killed him.  Instead, he seems to try and troll by claiming that Ronnie Barnes somehow made JE better or by making false claims that fans were blaming Barnes for the injury.  I am surprised you decided to jump in and defend what Coggs has been doing, Rich.  I truly am

"fanboy"?  No.  I just think it is funny when you guys constantly blame him for all the injuries.  It's as bad as Yankees fans complaining about the hitting coach.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on July 25, 2024, 06:55:53 PMDave Gettleman has taken a lot of heat for a lot for things that that went down during his four years as GM of the Giants. And rightfully so.

One thing that comes up a lot is not drafting Mika Parsons despite being able to. People have brought that up many times here in a critical if not scathing manner.

I have also heard him even get criticized for not drafting Justin Herbert, who wasn't even in the draft when we drafted Jones.

So if one of these three QBs turns out to be a star, and Jones flames out and isn't a Giant anymore a year from now, unless Schoen drafts a QB who is pretty much an instant success to replace Jones (or at least finds a very solid enough free agent to tide him over until he drafts someone), I think he's going to hear about it from the fans and media. Fair or unfair, that's just the way these things usually go.
How many times does the great QB lead his team to a Super Bowl victory? Do the Giants win any under Schoen?  If Nabers becomes a HOF receiver for the Giants, does it still matter what happens with those 3?

It's definitely Ronnie Barnes's fault.

Quote from: kingm56 on July 23, 2024, 10:47:39 PMData shows starters don't play 2 full preseason games. So, it's inconsequential to the starters. Instead, your bubble players will be impacted. Would the Giants have a Victor Cruz without his 3rd pre season game against the Jets?  Although, this could be offset by the inevitable expansion of the rosters, which will give bubble players a chance to make an actual roster.
Have starters only play 1 quarter each game?  Have an extra joint practice to get some real reps?

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on July 23, 2024, 08:21:17 PMHmmm. This past Super Bowl was Sunday Feb 11th and Presidents Day was was Monday Feb 19. Not sure how the above would work.
Get rid of bye before super bowl.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on July 23, 2024, 07:58:52 PMOne thing I think the players (and actually the league) would benefit from although it's probably not possible without eliminating another preseason game is adding a second bye. Every team would get two byes instead of one. This could help a lot with health.

Since knowing the NFL they probably are not willing to consider that, another thought would be to expand the roster size by something like 10-15%. Maybe make it 60-63 players instead of 53. I appreciate that complicates things with the cap and other considerations, but while I am fully supportive of going to 18 games, injury frequency is already an issue around the league (as we know full well), so that problem stands to only get worse by adding even one more game. I feel like something should be done to counteract or alleviate that.
I believe a 2nd bye is part of it.  Season would start at same time.  18th game and a 2nd bye gets the SB to President's Day Weekend.

Love it.  Pre-season bites.

How was DeVito not the choice for the Giants?
