People in here crucified Spags for his stint with the Saints and that his defense was figured out by the league

Even if true what is also true is that he has evolved with the league

He should NOT have been fired both times with the Giants

I like Daboll..but if for some reason he got fired ... I would not mind givng Spags a chance as long as he calls the defensive plays

Is that even a thing ? I know coaches do it offensively... could we do it defensively ?

Chiefs defense is completely gassed

The fact that Spags is still getting tons of effort out of them is amazing

Quote from: TDToomer on February 11, 2024, 09:59:15 PMThere is no such thing as a non-Giants homer. The term homer only applies to a team you root for not against.

You do realize I wrote exactly what YOU wrote ...right ?

Quote from: TDToomer on February 11, 2024, 08:36:22 PMIt is absolutely a debate which is why I said ask non Giants homers what they think to get a non-NYC centric perspective. Jim Plunkett and Simms should be in if Eli is a no brainer.

That really does not mean anything

Non-Giant "homers" also believed and probably still believe Romo was a better QB then Eli

Crazy ballsy going for it and risking not being able to at least tie the game

It worked out though

I hope Kelce is shut out for the rest of the game after he disrespected a legendary coach like that

Quote from: Ed Vette on February 10, 2024, 12:13:32 PMHe's one of the most significant players in NY Giant history. He was MVP for two SB's but the Giants Defense really kept them in those games. He was a middling regular season QB who had ice in his veins during those two playoff runs.

I think he gets in because of the name and NY and because he's kept himself relevant. Especially on those Monday night games.

Personally, I have a high bar for the HOF. Although I would like to see him get it but I don't think he deserves it.

2007 Defense was a huge factor

2011 The defense was terrible until something clicked the last month of the season .... we were 9-7 .... Eli led what ? 6 game winning drives that season ???

I give Eli credit for the 2011 Super Bowl season more than any other factor

We also had what the 30-31th ranked rushing offense ? And our once elite O-line aged and fell off a cliff

2007 Yes Defense carried the team

2011 Eli carried the entire team and the defense eventually clicked and completed the team

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Shane Bowen our new DC

Quote from: Gman329 on February 06, 2024, 08:40:30 AMI involuntarily cringed and groaned when I hit this one.  "Bend but don't break" is right up there with "prevent" in my list of things I hate.  DBs giving 10 yard cushions on 3rd and 7 and we spend all year hoping to "hold them to three".  Great.

This is in essence the Graham philosophy

The dude was totally content at the end of the half giving up 3 points no matter what the score was .... We could be down 7 he's fine giving the 10 yard cushions on 3rd and 7 to put us down 10 Ala 2 scores

Or we could be up 3 points and he was fine going into the half tied

I really hope Bowen is not Graham 2.0 ....i hate bend don't break ....but as long he doesn't have the loser mentality of bending all the way and giving up 3 is considered a win

Bowen if you call a soft game just make sure your ultimate goal is to stop the team from scoring ... don't do that 3 point bs

People will bring up that sometimes Grahams defense didn't give up a ton of points .... But it was obvious because the opposite team knew Grahams philosophy... they took what they could get and actually used it to their advantage

Are we done looking at other candidates then  if they have to make a choice by the end of the week ?

I think that's a mistake if that's the case .... Still other candidates out there that are better then the ones who are left from the interviews

I don't think Rivera is a great coach or a bad one ..... wanted a young and up and comer ....but the remaining crap is bleh .....  at least give him a call
#134
Damn at this point I wouldn't mind Rivera .... Did he go anywhere ?

We really lost out on the big names and up and coming

As much as I want a QB of the future i dont like the idea of trading high draft including future one for the possibility of getting a Trubisky in return... makes me nervous
