Big Blue Huddle / Re: Tyrod coming off IR

Quote from: President Rick on December 04, 2023, 11:26:42 AMwho starts????   TT or Tommy ['Danny - a sub above'] DeVito?????    A QB controversy at last!!!!!

Devito no question. taylor is likely to be off the team next year and possibly out of football. hes getting old and has taken a beating in his career. Devito is either the future starter our qb2 of this team. you RARELY get an opportunity to get this type of audition. preseason only tells you so much. he's looked decent against crap teams, lets see how he finishes the season with some good obstacles. if he continues to play well its one less thing we have to worry about next year. if he REALLY sucks, throw tyrod back in.

Winning cures all. i feel like this is to be expected when you lose the way we have been. and if its really going down that way, I agree with wink that our offense is so putrid it puts the D in bad situations all game long

What a disappointment hodgins has been. he looked so good at the end of last year, and EVERY single week i see him on the GOAT list. was really hoping he'd develop into that #1 but i would be surprised if he even makes the team next year.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 30, 2023, 12:59:32 PMYes Jayden Daniels has had an absolutely amazing year. I think he has more total offense by himself than 84 teams in the FBS. He has 1300 yards 20 tds and 0 int on balls thrown 20 yards or more. He's an electric runner that has a cannon and isn't gun shy to use it.

But.

His accuracy still needs work. You'll see him make 4 throws that are absolutely beautiful and then 2 that are flops that make you wonder if you're watching the same prospect.

He also does not scan the entire field. He has multiple elite wrs so he typically only gets to his 2nd read and stares down the wr that he is planning to throw to. He needs to learn to scan the entire field, look off safeties, and go through his progressions.

Sounds like things that can be worked out. we might be able to get him in the 1st and brian thomas in the 2nd. that dude is a legit deep threat.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Waller and Tyrod ?
November 30, 2023, 12:57:40 PM
Quote from: GeauxJints on November 29, 2023, 05:36:43 PMThe Waller thing is a damn joke. Hurts his other hamstring this seriously, comeon. Terrible signing.

Makes me think, without a top 3 pick, do you think Brock Bowers could be in play? He's arguably the best player in CFB.

he might be but honestly i think i'll be pissed if we take a TE top 5-7 wherever we pick. i was pissed when we took engram at 17.

Quote from: AZGiantFan on November 29, 2023, 09:47:40 PMI don't follow college football so I knew little about Daniels - so I went looking for info about him and found this article about him.  It's on an LSU site, but the numbers look very impressive.  A 4-1/2 year start who has gotten better and better each year and is just coming up on his 23rd birthday.  And no real injury history.  Ran a 4.5 40 a couple of years ago.

https://tigerbait.com/s/5814/jayden-daniels-deserves-the-heisman-trophy---heres-why

If they decide they DO want to go QB he looks like he has the potential to be the real deal.

watch his tape. looks nasty. plays well against tough D unlike some other "top" prospects. HUGE arm. quick delivery. justin fields running ability. smart decisions, only 4 INT against 40 td. loves to throw it deep. dude can take it 80 yards with minimal effort and doesnt fall down like vanilla vick.

I watched a ton of Daniels highlights this morning. he looks awesome. but what i also took from it is that nabers is awesome- reminds me of deebo with his YAC ability. also brian thomas i think his name is? is a legitamate deep threat. no way we'd get daniels and naber 1 and 2, but daniels and the other WR in the 2nd is a big possibility.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 27, 2023, 08:46:28 AMAssuming Tyrod comes off IR after the bye, who would you start on Monday Night against the Packers?

tommy. tyrod is probably out of the league in another year or 2. we have a solid backup brewing in tommy who somehow- is probably going to push jones for playing time next year. he will probably also start the season as i dont believe jones will be back until maybe week 3-4. he's got a nice audition period for the rest of the season. tommy is the future- in one way or another, either as a backup or starter. tyrod is at the very end of his career.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 27, 2023, 01:02:07 PMIf Tommy D proves he has what it takes to be an NFL backup QB, consider the following

2023 cap hit

Tyrod Taylor-  $6.9 million

Tommy DeVito-  $0.750 million (if he was on the roster the full season)

$6.9 million can bring in another solid starter at many positions

Can grab a guard. maybe a situational pass rusher.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Latest 33rd team mock draft
November 27, 2023, 05:02:55 PM
Quote from: katkavage on November 27, 2023, 01:26:01 PMThank god the draft is months away.  Not that the player is not good, but it would be a horrific mistake to take a tight end with such a high pick.

for the commanders?

Big Blue Huddle / saquon td's
November 27, 2023, 05:00:58 PM
i just noticed saquon has exactly 1 rushing td this year. that is a huge problem. sure he's got a few receiving td's, but for saquon to have only 1 rushing td was shocking to me. gotta figure out how to get this man in the end zone.

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 23, 2023, 08:25:28 AM"If you take a guy just to take a guy, especially at the quarterback position, and he fails, you set yourself back five years. You set yourself back five years because there are teams that are in what I call quarterback hell. They've got quality defense, they've got a good special teams, and they're going 7-9, 8-8, 9-7. And now if there is a legitimate guy, they've got to trade up and give away the farm to get the guy."

well we certainly arent in the latter portion of that.

Quote from: Sem on November 22, 2023, 11:44:50 AMThe Giants may not have great talent along the line, (excluding Thomas of course), but no O-Line should be this bad if they have competent coaching.

the seattle game, where they literally had all backups performing at a decent level proves this statement.

Quote from: T200 on November 20, 2023, 09:14:53 AMMy one question for Dab/Ka: WHERE THE HELL WAS THIS 8 GAMES AGO????  ~X(  ~X(  ~X(

seriously. even the announcer said they were calling plays they havent all year. saving the best for last? when we are already dead in the water? thats annoying. they also should have let tommy throw in that first game. he's capable.

Quote from: Ed Vette on November 20, 2023, 03:53:42 PMHe didn't play fine. He had two whiffs, fell down, and was bullrushed on the first drive alone. He was a mixed bag of good plays and poor plays. He was fine on his double teams but when he was one one-on-one with Payne and Ridgeway, they manhandled and got past him. There were a few plays where he pulled or went to the second level and was lost in space. I don't know what his Pass Pro and Run Grades were but I would have graded him in the 50's. @MightyGiants what were his grades respectively?

he def had some up and down plays as expected of a rookie. i think his grade was rightfully earned
