Quote from: MightyGiants on December 26, 2023, 08:28:02 AMAs we near the end of year 2, is this team a year away from being Super Bowl contenders?

No QB
No WR
Need 3 OL
Defense is below average
Coaching is suspect
GM is suspect

We are YEARS away.

Devito had two good games against two horrific defenses. Skins and Packers. Packers got lit up by the Panthers this past weekend to a tune of 30 points. The first time they scored over 20 points in like 9 weeks.

Devito stinks. The offense stinks.

Get a QB and a WR immediately.

We suck.

From the Owner, to GM, to the HC, to the assistant coaches. And most of all the players are god awful.

I have a feeling winning those meaningless games set the franchise back a few more years.

Need this jets win.

Sam Howell is god awful. Probably the worst starting QB in the league. We can't pick behind them.

No more OL in round 1. Need a WB and a WR.

All we should look and worry about.

Stay away. 3rd round or later type pick. No plus traits.

Quote from: MightyGiants on December 22, 2023, 12:56:36 PMIs there a QB prospect you would want the Giants to draft (assuming they are in the 6-8 range)?

No. Take the WR. Harrison, Nabers, Coleman. Then look for a McCarthy with a trade up in the 2nd. McCarthy wont be there. I feel like he will go top 15ish. His tools will be on display at the combine. He was not used like he should have been.

But grab a stud WR. Then see how the chips fall after that.,

Get a QB and a #1 WR.

It's priority 1-10 this offseason.

At no point ever was Slayton a top 15 WR ever. Its just maddening how fans overrated their players. How did he dod against the Eagles? He didnt have a catch on one game against them until the 4th quarter. To p30 WRs in the league are difference makers. They are constantly open and making plays. Slayton does not do this even remotely consistently. He isnt physical. He doesnt have good hands. And rarely does he win 1 on 1 matchups.

People have to watch other teams in the league do consistently. People can blame Jones cause its the easy cop out for them to do. But your telling me Slayton is a top 15 compared to guys like what hte 49ers, cowboys, eagles, chargers (when healthy), dolpphins, begals, rams, etc...

Slayton would be pushing for a roster spot on some of these teams. Get rid of the fat and find BETTER PLAYERS!

Darius Slayton is probably the worst number 1 WR in the league. And if he were a number 2 he would be bottom tier here.

People have to realize the talent on this team stinks. We were better off letting him go this offseason and building some OL depth instead. He is not a difference maker. Has one good game every 7-8 games. Drops too many passes. Doesnt make contested catches. Just need to move on from players like this.

No one really. We are a really bad football team with limited star players and too many role players. We are in desparate need of high quality players and quite possibly coaching too.

Quote from: kingm56 on November 30, 2023, 08:34:17 AMHave you considered the human factor?  Jaylen Hyatt has been a true professional; however, who you do you believe he prefers to play with...A QB who provides him with an opportunity to demonstrate his deep receiving skills, or a really nice guy who rarely throws him the ball?  Do you think a 21-year old will try just a bit harder for the former, vice the latter?

It does not matter. If you are really insisting that players arent trying as hard for Jones - thats a huge problem.

As regards to Hyatt, the numbers show his playing time has increased once Jones got hurt. And against Raiders - Jones took multiple deep hots to him - albeit unsuccessfully.

Maybe some times we can admit that playing guys like Ezeudu, McKathean, Mayfield, and some of the others signed off other teams practice squads were just really bad at their jobs. Its not to excuse Jones performance this year. He has been bad as well. Its can be a lot of things.

I mean I think Andrew Thomas is a better LT than Ezedu and Jones pretty much didnt have Thomas all year. Lets put it this way. When Taylor started against Buffalo - MNF showed their PFF rankings. The 5 starters were either last or next to last in positional rankings. Thats on them for not doing their jobs.

If players are trying harder based off whos QBing.... they should be cut immediately. That is about as unprofessional as an individual can be.

And I doubt this is true anyways, since Jones has been nothing but a great teammate and a standup individual.

Quote from: GeauxJints on November 29, 2023, 09:12:33 PMTyrod had the same line and Devito's line not much different. DJ doesn't know how to audible for protection.

That has nothing to do with the stat.

It may have to do with the fact that neither Taylor nor Devito had the ineptness of Ezeudu, McKathean, Mayfield, and what other inept OL were playing.

Having Thomas and Pugh (as bad as he is) are worlds better than those mentioned previously.
