Quote from: JT39 on October 09, 2023, 10:04:48 AMYes because parris Campbell was a stud before coming over here.

Hey your boy Waller had two 50/50 plays thrown down field. He let Eli Apple get the best of him and let a smaller corner take the ball out of his hands.

But those weren't Wallers fault I bet.

This is a thread about the OL. You hijack every thread making it about Jones. We get it. There are a dozen of other threads to talk about Jones. How about keeping it there for once?

You want to add something about our OL - go for it. But it was predictable you would blame Jones or slight him as soon as the the thread started.

You were the one who went off topic mentioning the Giants weapons not believing they were any good. I was just responding to that comment.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 09, 2023, 09:54:32 AMThat isn't a fact nor does it properly support your claim.   The fact that you make things up to bash Daniel Jones is a good illustration of the abuse Jones receives from fans.

Actually it does when you take a look at Trubisky's numbers his first four seasons in Chicago and compare them to Jones's.  Very similar.  Only difference is the Bears moved on from Trubisky and the Giants rewarded Jones.

As far as the personal shot at me making things up I am taking that as your frustration of being wrong on Jones.

Quote from: JT39 on October 09, 2023, 09:50:10 AMOnly a matter of time until it was Jones fault or to blame.

The ideas we have "more" weapons in the passing game is just flat out false. The weapons stink too. That's a whole other issue

Kinda hard to know whether there are weapons in the passing game when you're only throwing the ball beyond 10 yards 4 times in a game.

See the Bears with Mitchell Trubisky.

I don't think Jones played well yesterday.  The fact that there really was no difference in the offensive play with Taylor after Jones went out was eye opening for me.  This doesn't excuse the line play even without their All Pro Left Tackle and Starting Center.  Their play has been awful and you hope those two players are back sooner rather than later.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 09, 2023, 09:43:24 AMThe Giants defeated the undefeated Pats by getting pressure on the greatest QB ever in his prime.   So I am baffled how you don't understand how more pressure would as Daboll said, "affect the QB"

Again you're talking about one game with the Super Bowl XLII example.  Sure for one game it will throw off a QB but the good to great QB's elevate those around them consistently.  Their good/great games are the norm not the exception.  With Jones this is the norm.  His good games are the exception.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 09, 2023, 09:22:58 AMFrom 2012 to at least 2016 you have an elite QB in his prime.  So I think you suggestion that the QB has been the issue for the past decade may be misguided, regardless of your views on Daniel Jones who has been pressured 81 times this season, 3rd-most by any player through 5 games since ESPN began tracking pressures in 2009.

That is true that during the 12-16 Eli put up a number of 4,000 yard 35 TD type seasons.  Since then the Giants haven't gotten that type of QB play.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 09, 2023, 09:31:20 AMWe have witnessed KT and Neal meltdown over some booing.  We have seen Leo also calling out the fans booing.  Yet no Giant in the many decades I have been a fan has been treated as badly by fans, the media, and even his fellow players in the NFL.  Yet this man has been all class, and not once said a bad word towards them, despite being questioned about it repeatedly.   We may be spoiled because the Giants have had two of the classiest QBs in NFL history in Phil Simms and Eli Manning. Still, the sort of class and character Daniel Jones has repeatedly demonstrated is rather rare.

What exactly has Jones done on the field production and performance wise that has earned him the benefit of the doubt?  The Giants are the only team that would have handed their QB a big money extension after producing so little in his first four seasons despite spending as much draft capital into propping him up as the Giants have.  Any other team in the league would have moved on from Jones after last season.

Quote from: JT39 on October 09, 2023, 08:40:16 AMDoes this seem like a well coached, organized team? Embarrassing.

If the Giants hadn't lost as much as they had due to injury I'd agree with this idea.  But you really can't get on the coaches for injuries missing your All Pro Left Tackle and your center.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 09, 2023, 09:24:59 AMI am not sure what I find more surprising:

The complete and utter breakdown of the offensive line (which wasn't that great last year, but there was hope this season)

OR

How the complete failure of this unit has derailed the entire season

-- QB Daniel Jones pressured on 44% of dropbacks Sunday. Has been pressured 81 times this season, 3rd-most by any player through 5 games since ESPN began tracking pressures in 2009.

-- 18 sacks allowed over last 2 games, most by any team in 2-game span since '86 Eagles

What I've found surprising is how much Jones has regressed despite having more weapons in the passing game.  He's looked more like a rookie QB than he has a 5th year veteran who just got handed a big contract.

That's not to excuse the line play as missing their All Pro Left Tackle has impacted them along with Neal not improving.

Because I don't trust Pat L. I waited to see the actual video.  Pat's depiction of what Jones said wasn't accurate.

Go to the 30 second mark of the video for the comments in question

I was just sharing that information after the game.  My stance hasn't changed that I am going to wait to hear the full diagnosis probably sometime tokay before jumping to any conclusion.

49'ers are the best team in the league right now.  That game against the Eagles will likely decide home field in the playoffs.

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on October 08, 2023, 10:19:00 PMProblem here is Tyrod is a journeyman with a journeyman's contract. Is it considered moving the goalposts if folks want a true franchise QB rather than a Tyrod type making 40 million? Feels like we're back to arguing between Danny Kanell and Kent Graham.

That's was the scary part of yesterday is that to me the offense looked no worse nor better with Taylor than it has with Jones outside of 2 quarters this season.  And again that doesn't absolve the offensive line but there are still weapons in the passing game that are not being utilized that is not on the offensive line.

Quote from: AYM on October 08, 2023, 07:05:50 PMThis regime already had their chance, and they picked Jones as their QB. If we collapse and end up, say, 1-16, then no. That would mean that they made Gettleman's team even worse (while hanging on to Gettleman's scouts) and they need to go.

And yeah, Jones would go with them at that point.

We don't know if they were fully on board with Jones coming off last season with Mara's love of Jones their hands may have been tied

4 attempts over 10 yards today.  Of course his completion % was good when 15 of his 19 attempts were under 10 yards.
