Big Blue Huddle / Re: Odell Beckham Jr. rip the Giants

I absolutely do believe that Gettleman did that as a FU send off. Not that he didn't deserve it. He got a nice contract and his behavior was disrespectful and disgraceful. He is a nice guy and was loved and he screwed up his own career. Such a shame. What he could have been. But the Giants were screwed up too.

You know... he talks about energy and it's a real thing. Negative energy is contagious and it carries on back and forth. Look at the current drama. Once someone stops it and ends the cycle, it opens the door for positive energy.

Unfortunately, he's learned nothing.

Actually it was a good discussion.

Is he cold?

Quote from: GloryDays on January 19, 2024, 04:36:18 PMThank you, I was wondering why all of a sudden everyone dislikes Nix!
I rate Maye as 1, Nix 2 and then a few others with similar values.
There is one lesser known Quarterback that I happened to watch and got to like a lot: Michael Pratt of Tulane. He is considered right now to be a 3rd or 4th round pick. His stocks can change after the Senior Bowl.

With 6-7 upgrades that we NEED TO FIND, and considering DJ's Salary, I think the smarter move is to get a Pratt, on day 2 or 3, let him develop next year while DJ gets another chance, hopefully with a better cast around him.
Behind this mediocre O line and targets who usually can't get open quickly enough, Any rookie QB that we would invest in, is doomed to fail and get destroyed, just like what happened to Jones, imo.

We need to fix the O line (AGAIN!) replace Neal, get a better Guard, if Neal is not good as a Guard either, get another legit target that can get open. That is when all DJ's supporters, including our coach and GM, can get on the same page as others, if DJ still can not deliver and be worthy to be the Giants signal caller, with that kind of a salary.

Aside from that, we need to address the D line to stop the run and place more pressure on the QB.

Not that easy, but quite doable.
Very consistent. Had a tough time against SMU with all those sacks. Did you watch the AA Championship game?

I like Drake Maye a lot and he's probably my #1 at this time.

I've seen several of the Ducks games and as I've said before, don't discount Bo Nix. He's got it all. My reservations would be how he performed against Washington which was good but not spectacular and against Georgia last year's season opener which was not good. He's got an arm, can make all the throws, has learned to avoid pressure and sacks, sees the field well, can escape the pocket and complete passes even across his body to the other side of the field. And he can get yards with his legs if all else breaks down.

I still have more film to watch and there is the combine and Senior Bowl week if he participates. I also like that he risked the draft to go out a winner and supported his teammates in the Bowl game. He also was involved in other meetings besides his own QB meetings and was coaching.

High character, highly motivated and a great teammate.

But what the heck do I know.

Quote from: MightyGiants on January 19, 2024, 10:45:18 AMI wonder if teams initially benefit from fan dissatisfaction.   With a limited market for the seat licenses they go back to the team who at some point will sell them again for yet more money.
The upper deck is a grand a seat. I would think they want to keep the customer. Don't be so sure they turn them over so fast. If someone wants to go to a Giants game they can buy at ticket price and less on Ticket Exchange and Stub Hub. I get email every week of the season from the Giants for ticket sales through their box office.

Quote from: MightyGiants on January 19, 2024, 10:03:28 AMI would think it would take more than a few losing seasons to put Dallas in a position to not sell out.  Still, there are other significant revenue streams that teams don't have to share, like concession sales, merchandising, and even parking.  Full stadiums of fans there to watch a winning team maximize JJ's income.

Plus, suites are more desirable to corporate customers if they know they are going to be taking clients to meaningful games and to watch a winning team.
I was comparing them to the Giants situation, where many dumped their Seat License because fans stopped going to games in November and the resale value was in the pits. Last season they had to have had a resurgence but who trusts this organization at this point when it comes to shelling out cash? If it wasn't for you, Brian and Frank, I would have dumped the license years ago. If the Giants won 12 games a year, at least the joy of winning would have kept me in the game. Instead of walking back to the car in the wallows of defeat.

The Front Porch / Re: The downsides of electric cars

Quote from: LennG on January 18, 2024, 08:22:24 PMI was discussing something like this with a friend today and we both agreed, why can't they invent a battery that charges as you drive, thus almost eliminating the need for a physical charge most of the time? If the electric battery is charging as you drive it would make gas engines almost obsolete.
It's called planned product adolescence.

If you think about it, it might be more profitable to have contiguous 12 win seasons and not go all the way, than a bunch of 6 win seasons and winning it all every ten years. The in season ticket sales alone would be much better for the entire season and you retain your seat license holders.
