Out of interest, what was Taylor's PFF grade? I've had a look and don't think the heroes/goats scores have been posted.

I'd like to know this as well

Quote from: Stringer Bell on October 17, 2023, 04:30:56 PMI know all you want to do is disparage DJ in every post possible, but this has absolutely nothing to do with him.

It's a pretty weak argument to say a QB "made several first downs" during a game he led the offense to 0 TDs. Which, again, makes it pretty clear that the defense had everything to do with that game being close.

Suddenly when it does not apply to DJ touchdowns are relevant again?

Then I go back to the fact 15 TDS, hell add the 7 rushing make it 22, 22 TDs does not warrant 40M + incentives

That amount of production is as pedestrian as it gets and easily replicated.

Quote from: todge on October 17, 2023, 01:11:21 PMThe offensive line under Daniel Jones was on a pace to allow the most sacks in NFL. As soon as he got the ball, he was under siege. I'd be interested to get your take on this because it appears most are ignoring this very real situation

You do realize Tyrod played behind the same OL, with even more band aids applied to it, right? I am unsure what you are trying to say here.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 17, 2023, 12:53:00 PMOr maybe the QB was more adept at pocket manipulation, rush awareness, and processing speed/effectiveness. He also took more shots downfield which impacts what kind of looks you get from the defense.

I could not agree more, when he took over last week for the time he was in, it did seem like Tyrod was under less pressure and duress in that portion of the game also. He had some pressure, but did not seem as frequent.

Quote from: TrueBlue1970 on October 16, 2023, 11:40:18 PMBad take. Jones is not even close to Herbert. Stop being delusional.  We could only wish we had Herbert.

Imposter!!!!  /sarcasm/

Tagging Jones would not have made sense in that moment, but that is largely due to them not trading Saquon at the deadline, him still being here is complicated that cause if DJ got the tag, Saquon surely would have walked for nothing in return.

I agree, the defense definitely found their mojo last night, hopefully they keep it and this is the start of great things on that side of the ball, which in turn will help the other side as well.

Quote from: H-Town G-Fan on October 16, 2023, 01:01:22 PMI get your point. But if they're moving on from Jones, being tied to him next year isn't a big deal in my mind. In that scenario, you're probably grooming a rookie QB and contention in 2024 isn't likely. You're aiming for 25/26 when DJ is off the books.

This, plus with other OL and offensive players surely to be added along with possibly a new OL Coach, it gives them time to gel, work out at least some kinks, and hopefully have things more stable, so no rush to play the rookie week 1

Necks are no joke, I would sit him until its no longer a concern, a neck injury and be problematic outside of the game itself.

Quote from: B1GBLUE on October 16, 2023, 08:55:27 AMwont argue that. but every year is different.

It is, but Jones has more or less been the same regardless of who he has or doesn't have. They need an upgrade at QB (and RG) along with a break on health (looking at you Barnes)

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 16, 2023, 11:22:57 AMWhy pick those two games?

Why discredit a third of the offensive points on a drive the QB led?

There is a distinct difference between acknowledging a loss helps the Giants long term, vs explicitly hoping they actually achieve those losses

I agree with all of the above

I thought Pugh, Slayton, Hyatt, Wandale and Waller all played good games and Gano made all of his kicks.

When AT returns we may be able to get some more explosive plays.

They held one of the top teams, with oen of the best QB-WR duos to 14 points, defense was not the issue last night
