They have to win games. If the coaching staff doesn't win, next year is going to be trial to see if they get axed. They don't want that. With a rookie QB and the likely hood of having injuries and possibly another bad year almost always gets them fired. That's is why I'm perplexed how bad Daboll has been. After that first 7 games he hasn't been great.  He has lost his fire and quite frankly he has lost his mojo of being aggressive.

Quote from: Dgoodmantrublu on November 02, 2023, 06:48:59 PMHe was already declared out. He could not have played by league rules. So it wouldn't have mattered of Daboll knew or not.

But you cannot deny he hasn't been in control of the team. Jets game was disaster so was Bills game. I have to say Wink has kept the defense going. Daboll is supposedly the offensive guru and some QB whisperer. I don't want the guy to get fired but he should get his head in the game. Leaving his first string QB in the game in a blow out absolute ridiculous with teams basically teeing off.

I think Daboll has been more of a disappointment. I mean not knowing Jones was cleared and Gano has serious knee issue. That's a guy who hasn't been in command of his team. He has been committing coaching malpractice.

Another Medical failure. Sports Medicine at its finest.

How about a game to game approach. Win next week and then think about the next.
If the Giants run the table it means they are hoisting a Lombardi.A need for a new QB is quelled. All problems are solved. If you guys recalled the Giants were 4-4 and they ran the table until Super Bowl.

Daboll became conservative when he needed to be aggressive.

He also committed the penalty that stopped the clock with 17 seconds.

No way Daboll did everything right. He didn't have his back up ready with any go to plays. That being unprepared that's the coach.

This loss was on Daboll, I'm still not convinced he deserves a COY last year. All year all I saw was Barkley, Jones and the defense bailing him out. This year he has been atrocious. Unprepared players on O-line and now an unprepared backup ready to even throw 5 yards down the field.
Last year he showed a spine this year he has his tail between his legs. You have SB and 24 seconds left with a 4th and 1 you go and finish the game right there and then.  If you know Gano is hurt and the chance of him missing are high you have to try and get the first down.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on October 20, 2023, 01:59:57 PMVery good film breakdown. Out of the 10 sacks during the Seattle game, 5 were not Daniel Jones fault, but the other 5 were. The author of the video shows where some WRs were wide open and for what ever reason Jones didn't seem to see it. He also shows players that are out of position (Wan'Dale Robinson) in particular. What concern's me about that is why was he out of position that many times? Is that on the player or OC ?

Its my understanding the Giants can move on from Jones after 2 years?  I think we need to build around DJ and draft a young QB in the draft. One thing I know what some people are thinking..... but no DJ isn't a draft bust The giants failed him he wasn't set up to succeed, we need to make sure who ever we draft gets a chance. It's time for a break up between DJ and the Giants.

I have to go with Mike Tyson on this "everybody had a plan until they they get hit". Let's face it the Patriots with perfect season had a plan vs the Giants in the Super Bowl until they got hit. The Giants turned Brady into a regular QB. Seattle did the same thing to Jones.

The year Phil Simms won a Super Bowl he had 22-19. I'm tired of the ridiculous bashing. Jones is a good QB but they only have a running back and one really good offensive lineman. That's all they have.

I'm very dissatisfied with the lack of preparation overall by the coaches. When SB went down it bothered me that they didn't have the next running back ready. If you guys recall the year Ward went down the Giants had Jacobs and Bradshaw ready to go. None of the back ups seem ready to play at a high level. I don't remember having such a huge drop off from starters to backups. I'm starting g to think is Daboll as good as we think he is. He is worse than Joe Judge right now. Preparation is on the coach. I'm not saying fire him I think he deserves another year but he has to get busy. The next man up philosophy doesn't seem to exist here. It seems the next man up is looking for a job somewhere or on another team.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 15, 2023, 04:59:05 PMWhat exactly do you mean by "hold them accountable" though if you don't want them fired?

Of course they are accountable. Who is giving them a free pass? Do you think ownership is happy with the state of affairs and is patting them on the back right now and telling them they're doing great?

Obviously, if things don't get better they will ultimately lose their jobs. I just don't think it should happen after this year. Since you apparently agree with that, I'm actually not sure what we're arguing about.

I don't think they are being held accountable. Most here are throwing their blame on DJ. Daboll is making him the scapegoat he hasn't come out and said anything to protect his QB. If he goes out there and says DJ is doing the best he can under the duress that he is playing under. That would make a lot more difference in fans eyes instead he is throwing salt on the wound abf definitely has not shown any leadership coaching ability. A lot of difference a year makes.
I think anyone that make the playoffs deserves a year more and that goes for the QB also.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 15, 2023, 04:04:42 PMOk, so let's just panic and fire them after two years, just like we always do, even though their first year was actually very good, and let's bring in two more new guys. Then at the first sign of trouble we can fire them too and just keep repeating the process forever. I'm sure it won't get harder to hire quality people in the future despite firing coaches and GMs the second things don't go well. Sounds like a plan!

I don't think I said anything about firing them. I want them to be held accountable. I don't like that they left their QB exposed to some horrible O-line play what kind of backups it's like they made no assessments just got random bodies, they have no protocols for injuries the next man up philosophy is nonexistent. Daboll and Schoen are getting a free pass with DJ taking brunt of the blame, which I think is down right BS. Daboll had literally been throwing DJ under the bus without seeing what he is actually facing which leads me to believe he is being totally clueless.  Leaving him in blow outs with teams basically Teeing off. That to me is a coach who doesn't have the best interest of his QB in his heart.
I said nothing about firing them they will get another year to prove themselves. Hopefully they can right this ship out of stormy waters. But if they continuously get blown out and the effort level stays the same all bets are off.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on October 15, 2023, 02:33:27 PMThey inherited a 4-13 team with almost zero cap space and, since taking over, are 11-12-1, with a road playoff win and an NFL coach of the year award.

If your expectations were that a 4-13 dumpster fire of a team was going to contend for a Super Bowl in year one, then I can understand the dissatisfaction, but maybe expectations of that level were a little ambitious.

This was always going to take some time. Fans need to recall the state of the team that was handed to these guys. They're not magicians.

So they inherited a running back coming back 100% and a Quarterback coming back 100%, two number one picks. A top tier O Line man. A decent defense. They pulled out some close games. To give them a record that might not actually reflect the team.

I have to blame Schoen and Daboll. The roster was suppose to be upgraded. What happened? Super Bowl is a reach we all know that, but this come on man. They aren't even competing. That's what has gotten me more than anything. I think that's what everyone here is concerned with. The lack of competing.
