Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants vs. Saints

Quote from: Ed Vette on December 13, 2023, 11:15:01 AMIt used to be the case where the Saints were very tough to beat at home. In 2013 they were 8-0 at home. That's not the case in the last three seasons. Carr is no Drew Brees. There is also some friction going on with him over there. The more I think about it, the Giants have a shot at winning this game.

In the early 2000s me and my buddies went down to watch the Giants play in New Orleans twice, through Big Blue Travel or whatever. Both times the Giants got absolutely housed by double digits. One of the games Jesse Palmer started, to give you an idea. Bourbon Street makes it easier to drown your sorrows, but the Saints fans let us have it everywhere we went, not that I blame them.

He's not going to take a reduced role, I don't think. He'll have teams lining up to hire him, and on his terms. Carolina, Bears, Chargers, Raiders will all be looking. Every one of them will at least have to make the phone call.

But his drafts have been terrible lately, I haven't paid close enough attention to his FA signings to say. But the roster, with the QB on a rookie deal no less, is awful.

I assume that in trying to sign him to a multiyear contract, the contract makes financial sense for both parties. Short term deal, with market money each year. He is a dynamic player and I want him on the team, but only at a reasonable cost.

I'd tag him again, and see how much he gets injured / see if we can draft someone to take his place.

Even with the RB market being what it is, it only takes one GM who needs to put people in seats to sign him away from us on a crazy deal.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: NFC Offensive player of the week

Quote from: Arodgers12 on December 13, 2023, 09:23:07 AMYou guys think you'll make the playoffs?

I don't think so, no. To get into the playoffs, the Giants will have to win out and get help. With two games against Philly, not likely at all. I think estimates of their chances are less than 2% and that sounds right.

I'm just looking for a little fun to the end the season. Tommy Cutlets played better on Monday than any UDFA rookie has a right to, I was there and we had a great time. I suspect he'll come back to earth, but these tickets didn't cost me $0. It's nice to have fun at a game once in a while.

Neal is still a massive disappointment. I thought for sure he would figure it out this year, but he still seems lost.

Other than that, we have some real pieces. Banks is who I am most excited about.

Unreal. He's still and UDFA rookie, but you can't deny the numbers and ratings from Monday night. I can't believe I'm becoming a believer.

If he gets a win in either game against Philly, he becomes an all time legend.

New Orleans has a good defense. If the Giants win, its going to be one of those 13-10 games. Carr is awful and Winston is good for a pick or two. They haven't beaten anyone decent.

Quote from: y_so_blu on December 12, 2023, 04:11:31 PMThinking about the draft in November and December is not a good feeling. It almost invariably means something has gone wrong with your season. And in the case of the '23 Giants almost anything that could, has. If MetLife Stadium had a roof it would have collapsed by now. That's how bad it's been. Since Week 3 I've seen some of the dullest and most depressing football in memory--with the only silver lining being that the team itself clearly still wants to win, despite being totally outclassed on offense and special teams on a weekly basis.

And at times like this... you really need a beer, am I right?

I bet it even goes well with cutlets.

Tommy Devito is the pick-me-up Giants fans so desperately needed. A reason to hope and care again. Whatever happens in the final weeks, I will cherish this win he led over the Packers as an early Christmas present. Grazie and congratulazioni, #15!

I will definitely get some of this for the game next week. This is awesome.

Te Banks is as good as advertised, he saved a touchdown on a well thrown ball in the endzone. And he's a rookie.

Okereke has been a really good signing. Tackling machine.

Wan'dale is essentially a rookie. Uncoverable in man coverage.

Dexter is Dexter, our best player on defense.

It is extremely hard to win a championship in the NFL without an elite QB, full stop. I want the Giants to win every game, but I am not sure what else there is to talk about with fans that cannot acknowledge this very simple fact about the NFL.

Is Daniel Jones an elite QB? Is there anyone on the roster that is? If not, then the Giants need to get one. There are a couple ways to get a QB, some more risky than others. Until the Giants have their franchise guy, the discussions on how to get one will continue.

Going to the playoffs this year, which is an extreme long shot, just to get housed again by the Cowboys or the Eagles because we cannot score accomplishes nothing for the long term although it will be fun in the short term.

Just got back, that was crazy.  Too many Packer fans, seemed like it was 50/50. Disgraceful. But on the way out, we were the ones chanting GO PACK GO!

As you can imagine Tommy's a hit with the fans. After the Saquon fumble most of my row left, but I thought what the heck. What a last drive!  Too bad Wandale missed most of last year, his quickness is a weapon.

Leaving soon! Night games are the worst if only because traffic getting up the turnpike sucks and I just want to get there.

I expect a close game, but the Packers offense has been playing really well. We get Sexy Dexy back, hope he can make a difference.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: The stakes for tonight's game
December 11, 2023, 04:33:01 PM
I think they lose tonight, if only because the only teams we beat are some of the worst teams in the league. But here they are, still in the hunt. I think tonight is the last nail in the coffin though.

And remember, picking fourth, or fifth, or whatever only means moving up to get they guy they want is possible. The Bills traded players and picks to move up to 7 to get Josh Allen, that seems like the right move. We've got the extra 2nd from Seattle that looks like its going to be a decent pick. All they have to do is find our franchise QB and go get him.

We've got the wife's Toyota hybrid that I call the "nanny car" because whatever you're doing, the car isn't happy. "Beep beep, it's cold out." That's an actual warning. I do appreciate the blind spot monitoring.

I have a manual 2000 911 I love like my third child. Finicky car, but when its right it's really right. I haven't hit its adhesion limit yet and I don't expect to. It's not a whole lot of fun driving it to the Giants games and back though.
