To me, the Raiders and the Bears look to be the two NFL franchises with absolutely no hope.

Neither demonstrates even the slightest degree of stability and/or vision.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on October 31, 2023, 04:10:31 PMGuess the 49ers thought they needed some more D after a 3 game skid.

Also, despite their press clippings, the Niners are only in the middle of the pack when it comes to sacks this season. They're all in, and are betting that the return of their All-World LT and Deebo will address their offensive woes.

To me, it's a great move for them.

I, too, have no clue what the Bears are thinking.  Even if they resign Sweat, they could have done so when he hits free agency after the season as they're swimming in cap space.  If he helps them win a game or two this season, it actually HURTS them.  Absolutely idiotic.  In the running for worst move of the year.

Quote from: Philosophers on October 29, 2023, 07:28:39 PMI was not talking about Waller but just in general.  I like the Waller pickup.

Waller was injured a lot the last two years.  He plays an exceedingly physical brand of football, which leads to him giving and receiving hellacious hits.

That's why this was just a matter of time.  Plus, unless Hyatt improves his football IQ, that will prove to be a negligible draft pick.

There was more hope than realism that went into the receiving corps.

Quote from: zephirus on October 02, 2023, 11:22:16 AMMaybe I'm in the minority, not in hating Siriani or the Eagles but I didn't second-guess the move.  There are so many things that can go wrong with the "milking the clock" scenario - you could become too predictable and not get enough rushing yardage to make the field goal "more makeable".  You could miss the field goal or having something go wrong with the snap/spot operation, etc.  I don't mind a coach staying aggressive, trusting his defense to carry the day and going for a kill shot.

I was disappointed that Ron Rivera didn't go for 2.  Despite what was said here, that's DEFINITELY in his character - he's known as "Riverboat Ron" for a reason but for some reason yesterday stayed conservative.

The real problem was the taunting penalty.  Had Brown not done that, it would've been difficult to drive the field in the remaining time. As it was, the Commanders made it b/c of a 'three-second' incomplete pass play.

The call sucked only if Siriani anticipated the taunting call, which was the right call.

The thing about Carter is that, unless I missed them, there were no concerns that he was dogging it on the field at Ga.  Lack of motivation didn't seem to be an issue.  He certainly plays like someone who is motivated.
