Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants QB tryout

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on November 07, 2023, 12:34:03 PMTrue. But neither the Jets or
giants brought him in for a visit. Surely the assessment of his ability to play will come before any $$ discussion.
I'm not sure how any of that goes down.
I did think the Giants and Pugh had a number when they added him to the PS in case they elevate him to the roster.

Quote from: EDjohnst1981 on November 07, 2023, 12:31:28 PMSo enough cap relief to either make the bridge with Barkley and/or strengthen the the line or get a better receiver.
That's untrue since Jones cap hit this season is $15.4 million.
I think it was around $20 million but they had to move some.
The waste of money is with Campbell and Slayton both making around $5 million.
There is your swing tackle or guard upgrade.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 07, 2023, 12:28:34 PMI don't personally want the Giants to rattle off meaningless wins now as I really want the best possible QB prospect we can get, but it's weird to me that nobody in the league wants Carson Wentz. I totally get that he was a huge disappointment relative to expectations and has had some injury issues, but no way he's worse than some of these names drifting around like DeVito and Eason. I mean Wentz had an 80 rating last year and a 94 rating the year before, and he's 30. Weird that he's not at least a backup somewhere. His career numbers are better than both Jones' and Taylor's.

Is there some unmanageable personality flaw I don't know about? It just seems weird that this guy is not on a 53 anywhere.

How much does he think he's worth?
That to me would be why he's not on a team.

Quote from: madbadger on November 07, 2023, 10:41:01 AMHe could have nullified that mistake to some degree by franchising him this year. IIRC the tag for quarterbacks this year was in the low $20 million area. If he wasn't worth picking up his fifth year option why was he worth a four year extension after lighting the league up with 15 passing touchdowns?
The franchise tag for QBs was 32,416,000 and transitional tag $29,504,000

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Offseason Priorities Now

I hope the priority is to fix the oline.
Thinking QB in the 1st round and after that a pass rusher or DT in the 2nd.
Use FA to get the olinemen they need.

No way Dabs isn't on the sideline for this team next season.

Hugh mistake for Thibs also in a spot you have to be smarter then jumping offsides with 17 seconds left in the game.

Quote from: TDToomer on October 23, 2023, 12:50:22 PMOr we can stop letting all of our Safeties leave in free agency. McKinney has looked good the past 2 weeks.

Hawkins has to become Deion Sanders to win you over? Now that is setting the bar high.
I guess you missed the part about him being allergic to tackling so unless he starts doing that he will have to be as good as Sanders was.
Sorry but McKinney isn't worth a 2nd contract that usually over pays the player.

I hope he can develop into an unstoppable or double team him #1 WR but that would also require getting open in the routes other then the deep ones.
I have noticed both him and Robinson out there blocking unlike Slayton which is a big plus.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on October 23, 2023, 12:42:56 PMAdoree came back in the bills game.

That's what we need though regarding finding our entire future at CB in 2 drafts with a 1st, 3rd, and late pick. Now that it is solidified you move onto other areas. We need to continue hitting on late round picks.

I also think we have our future at wr locked up in Wandale and Hyatt. We just need a big bodied young guy to add to them and that's our future.
Hodgins doesn't meet that requirement?
#26
Unfortunately they will need a couple of Safeties next off season.
I'm not sold on Hawkins yet and unless he becomes Primetime2.0 he will need to learn that tackling is a requirement at this level.
So happy Flott has stepped it up!

So many times they should've sack the QB but he side steps them and then throws a perfect ball down field.

I don't see him on the injury list this week.  Not even limited.  Hope he plays.
He's on the IR.

Quote from: B1GBLUE on October 16, 2023, 08:47:35 AMi mean hey, we SUCKED down the stretch last year, after a great start. i'd always rather finish strong than start hot. we will get healthy. and we cant get any worse. also coming up to the easy part of the schedule. i think we know who we are at this point and what our limitations are. the defense is coming together. the offense HAS to figure it out and start putting points up. we go 6-1 the next 7 games, that puts us at 7-6. i'd sign up for that. i know everyone wants to tank and get a high pick, but i just cant get on board with that. lets get back to winning. even if its meaningless.

Quote from: MightyGiants on October 16, 2023, 09:39:27 AMThat may be true but since Waller's right hand failed to stop the forward motion of the ball, it's sort of irrelevant

Waller couldn't jump either with the defender pulling on him.
Let him jump and he stops the ball better.
