Not sure what you mean. Daniels will not be around at #6 . The Commanders or Pats will take him. Are you suggesting that we trade up for him ?

He can sit a year and learn from D Jones or Drew lock
But to build a team without a QB doesnt always work
Remember the colts a few years ago
They had an awesome team.but never got the QB correct

They had one of the best but he retired because he was getting way too many hits from a porous OL

You are correct . It was a knee jerk reaction on my part.

Couldn't we have matched that deal ? And then with the 6th pick we could draft Bowers , Ault , anoter wide receiver , Murphy from Texas , a QB

The answer to your question is NO , I would be happy with that draft . If we don't get Odunze, Nabers or  Ault .I will be very disappointed . All I remember is the last time we traded down we missed out on MIcah Parsons .

It has to be  SChmitz because if he does not  our OL is in trouble

Two  pluses  for Jones is that he can run . Maybe not as well as Josh Allen but enough that opposing defensive coordinators have to plan for that. Secondly, but maybe not as important is that he is smart. He graduated from Duke with a degree in economics .

I am 81 years old and have been following the Giants and football for 60 years .

I know this has been said ad nauseum but I will repeat it . I don't care who your QB is or what team you are playing for , you cannot suceed in the NFL unless you have a really good offensive line . They don't have to be  5 All Pros but they have to work in full coordination with each other. They have to know exactly what the other 4 atre doing at all time.

Jones has never had that. He has been rushed and hit too many times . It seems that the OL has been up graded for 2024 but I have no idea how good or bad they will be. If I knew , and I don't , that Joe Ault could turn out to be an eventual All Pro at right tackle  I would draft him at number 6 . He did come to Notre Dame as a tight end.

While they are both guards, both Quenton Nelson and Zack Martin were first round picks and have become perennial All Pros .

If Schoen drafts a QB at 6 wouldn't it be difficult to fire him and Daboll because they could say we have a QB of our choice not one that was handed to us and we need time to develop him?

I am not suggesting instead of Burns but in addition to him . Veteran leadership for  a good to very good player for a condional 2026 third round pick , sounds worthwhile to me .

Wouldn't that have been a good trade for us ?

In 2022nhe seemed to have a good relationship with Daniel Jones Football wise.
