Quote from: Ed Vette on November 30, 2023, 10:02:15 AMThis is what the NY media does. Finally the ship is pointing in the right direction and with nothing else to report, they continue to pick at it and it takes on a life of its own.

Good for Wink for standing up for himself as a Veteran Coach but good for Daboll for having the balls to call a spade a spade. The wheels were coming off the Defensive and the last two weeks they went from xxxx Show to Magic Show.

I like that Daboll believes in accountability and not just talks the talk. If it's behind closed doors, that's where it should be handled. That said, Daboll needs to recognize that maybe taking a chapter out of the Parcells book is prudent. You can't treat or speak to every man the same way. You find out what works and adjust on the way. I think he gets that as it's evident in how he mentors Tommy and after being frustrated, he needed to show he was visibly upset with Daniel Jones.

I have to say, whatever transpired between him and Wink, set the Defense back on track.

I don't think the "Patriots Way" translates well outside of New England with the greatest coach of all time. Especially as your first head coaching job, you don't really have the right to be a dick to a guy who has led top defenses in this league for years. I get the accountability thing, and I like that, but Daboll has made some really dumb decisions so far this year.

What coaches that learned under Belicheck in New England have gone on to be very successful? We already saw Judge.... Matt Patricia was awful, Josh McDaniels is atrocious, I like Vrabel but don't think he ever coached under BB. Eric Mangini.... Brian Flores.... Bill O'Brien...

I think the "Patriot's Way" only works for one guy and that's honestly probably because he was blessed with Brady for 2 damn decades.

I was one of the first to dismiss Glazer's report, I hold my hand up. This isn't good.

"I shouldn't have jumped on the sidelines after the play". What a disgrace the NFL is becoming. How about don't have people filming for social media if you don't want them to catch viral moments. I'm sure the NFL is making a TON of money off that backflip video.

This entire world has lost common sense and it's a real big problem  ~X(  ~X(

Quote from: Gmo11 on November 29, 2023, 10:22:40 PMNow that they've played their way out of Caleb Williams, Daniels might be their last best hope. Even if it requires moving up a couple spots should a team not need a QB in the top 5. It would be pretty devastating if they don't come out of this draft with a QB.
Wouldn't mind grabbing Ewers in the second round. Guy has a load of talent and moxie.

The only knock on him is that he is a bit thin, but he can easily fill out with NFL trainers. He doesn't take big hits when running, he's good at going down and getting out of bounds.

Hes leading the best offense in the nation, and may be the best offense LSU has ever had. It's neck and neck with Burrows offense. LSUs defense is brutal so he has to put up 40+ to win games

Quote from: MightyGiants on November 29, 2023, 07:42:00 PMActually it shows DJ had the worst conditions (in terms of protection) in the league.
Tyrod had the same line and Devito's line not much different. DJ doesn't know how to audible for protection.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on November 29, 2023, 06:18:23 PMThere is no perfectly right answer here, but I really don't want to use another top 7 pick on an offensive tackle.

Given the stipulations Phil has laid out, if the true, clear BPA available in Schoen's eyes is in fact an OT, then OK I guess, but man I really hope that's not how we come out of this.
What if we get another AT at RT? That would make it worth it, especially if he's a franchise perennial all star. Hopefully Neal can figure it out at Guard.

Big if, and again new OL coach would need to be the first move

LMAOOO not a good look for DJ

If DJ is starting next year first round better be a damn STUD OL. Cannot miss on another, but hopefully a new OL coach can fix some of the trash we have

The Waller thing is a damn joke. Hurts his other hamstring this seriously, comeon. Terrible signing.

Makes me think, without a top 3 pick, do you think Brock Bowers could be in play? He's arguably the best player in CFB.

DJs horrific pick 6 week one ended our season because it took AT out and showed what a primetime clown DJ is

Kind of agree but the kid did throw 2 tds vs Dallas and 3 TDs vs a professional NFL defense in Washington. Cut him some slack. He's only practiced with the 1's for a few weeks now

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on November 28, 2023, 10:42:22 AMFor all the Eli Mannings, Joe Burrows, JD Strouds , Peyton Mannings, John Elways, first picks in the NFL Draft who have succeeded, the following are either 1st or second picks in the draft who have not:

Jamarous Russell
Sam Darnold
Zach Wilson
David Carr
Sam Bradford
Rick Mirrer
Mitch Trubitsky
Jameis Winston
Tim Couch
Vince Young
Robert Griffin
Ryan Leaf

WE have so many needs , the most glaring being the OL , that maybe drafting a so called ," franchise QB " with our first pick might not be the smartest move.

Jones is being paid $40 million next year and any QB we draft will sit behind him unless he gets hurt, so our first round pick if it is a QB will noit improve our team at all, while an OL if he is the right one , and edge rusher or a legitimate ACE receiver would . As respects the latter only Marvin Harrison JR or Keon Coleman would fit that requirement .
So you think Schoen has a better track record drafting OL than QB??
