Big Blue Huddle / Re: Anybody still want Daboll fired?

Quote from: Gmo11 on December 12, 2023, 10:17:00 AMBarkley literally broke through a tackle to score one of his...checks notes...two TDs in the game.  He screwed up at the end but there wouldn't be an end to screw up if not for him.

Your cousin Tommy is not playing great...he's just not the train wreck the Giants were dealing with before.  If not for a ridiculous amount of turnovers by the opposition these past few weeks they'd still be losing games.  It's not like the offense is carrying this team, if anything the defense is. That last TD was the first time I looked at him and thought THAT is what a QB should look like.  And it's great that he did it.  But we are far away from handing him the keys to the castle.
Is anyone calling for him to be handed the keys?

I think the highest that anyone has gone is to the effect "let's see what we have".

TD is a fantastic, feel good story.
My thought is, if the lad can win himself a back up gig, here or elsewhere, then that's great for him.
If he can be another outlier, and develop into something more I'll be delighted.

But his achievements thus far, such as they are, are showing DJ in a not great light.

I'm not making direct comparisons here, but Brady's early success was on the back of a high end D, rather than Tom Terrific putting the team on his back.

I think the key point is Tommy is a feel good story.
And by God, ten games in, did we need a feel good story.
He's a likeable, tough competitor who's doing his damndest to squeeze every ounce from what God gave him.
He seems to have a close knit family of characters.

When I use my head,  I see him as an undrafted free agent working for a career back up job.

When I use my heart,  I see Scorsesse directing his life story in a movie a la Kurt Warner.

The true story is quite possibly someplace in-between.

But any Giants whose heart isn't warmed by what's going on right now needs to take a look at themselves and ask why they root for any sports team.

Hopefully we'll build to be a Superbowl winning team again in my lifetime, but who knows.

Until we climb those lofty peaks, let's have some fun at least!
We could be watching Jake Fromm doing a sneak on third and long.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 12, 2023, 09:54:21 AMthe only thing Devito did was not mess it up.

In a QB that's a very underrated trait.

Yep. At Tottenham last year I was sat amongst a mix of fans and the Packers guus were good people,  plenty good banter during the game.

Quote from: gregf on December 11, 2023, 11:26:00 PMThank you Tommy for making Giants football fun again!
This.
We're not post season relevant, but I see my team playing hard and it's FUN.
We get too invested at times, but Jaysus that was a fun watch.
God love Tommy D and his family of Sopranos extras!!
Saquon, that man does not put his hand in his pocket in your company again for the rest of your lives.

Siriani is a classless, odious,  urinary tract infection of a man.
And what's that lardass melt on the sideline doing getting involved?

Jaysus, I hate these.

I think everyone, in every high profile sport, reads too much into pressers.
Schoen's talking without saying anything here.
There's so much water to flow under so many bridges before next off-season, predicting anything accurately is a crap shoot.
Both in terms of draft placement and potential draft targets.

And anyway, we're only two games (and a few tie break scenarios) out of a wild card.
Who's to say Devito to Hyatt doesn't carry us on the wildest post season run ever.... ;)

Nurse......nurse......I'm hearing the voices again......

Agreed on Vilma, decent analyst.
I honestly believe Greg Olsen is the best though....including the much hyped Romo.

Two words spring to mind.
"Thank" and "f u *k".

I haven't wanted a FG missed so bad since 25.

I think I'd have chewed an arm off if I had to watch OT.
