Quote from: sxdxca38 on February 28, 2024, 01:00:10 PMHi,

I am entitled to my opinion, just as you are entitled to your opinion. However, there is no reason to put me down, and to call my understandings as "awful excuses". This forum was created to have a healthy dialogue between fans, and to do so showing respect for the other party.

Some of the guidelines here say we are not to put the other person down, or to attack them personally. So I would appreciate it if you would not do that to me.

As to answering your question about what is the purpose of my post. In my opening statement I said that I do not think the Giants will be able to land one of the top 3 QB prospects, because I do not think Chicago, Washington, or New England will trade out of the pick.

So instead of drafting a QB with the sixth pick, who is more than likely a watered-down version of one of the top 3, I recommended staying with DJ for another year, rebuilding the right side of the O line and getting a #1 WR in the draft.

And then in the following years go and get the QB you really want without having to give away the farm, that was my intent, nothing more, nothing less.

I have nothing more to say on the subject, as I will now be going back to work. Feel free to respond, but I will more than likely not respond anymore, take care.

that is fair i am sorry you feel that way.  the "awful excuses" was not meant to be a personal attack against you but on the points made.

swear to god if they take JJ McCatthy at 6...

Jones is getting paid more than Josh Allen next year and we're arguing whether he is a better player than JJ McCarthy.

Quote from: Brooklyn Dave on February 27, 2024, 02:21:46 AMWhat is your definition of a ," Real QB" ?

someone who can make the players around him better. a leader. who has a fanbase that takes responsbility for his actions rather than making a thousand excuses. someone who lives up to their salary. someone you can trust to lead your team long term and not still be on the fence going into year 6.

better?

Big Blue Huddle / FA QB discussion
February 26, 2024, 11:41:42 PM
Obviously DJ is not the answer and nearly the entire fanbase knows it.

Assuming we don't draft a QB, who would you like to see the Giants get in FA at QB?

I'd love.. Sam D'arnold. think he has a big chip on his shoulder, learned a lot in SF, and frankly is a better player than Daniel Jones when given the right tutelage.

Quote from: Stringer Bell on February 26, 2024, 06:47:20 PMI'm all for cutting Glowinski and Waller but not a fan of doing any major restructures for the purposes of going "all in" this offseason.

This team is not close to competing. And one off-season isn't going to change that. Let's stick with the plan of acquiring draft capital, developing talent, and building a strong core.
This team is a year removed from the divisional playoff game. A coupel bounces this season and we have 8-9 wins.

If we can just get a REAL QB in the draft a lot of our problems are solved, we are not as far off as you think... just far off at the most important position in the gmae

Let's say they just can't get a good deal to move up and don't even take a QB in the draft, and get a Tyrod Taylor type instead...

with Daniel Jones starting, adding another WR, and whatever.. I say this team has a ceiling of maybe 7 wins. Anything in the 3-4 game win range next season warrants the firing of both of them in my opinion.

Being generous in this scenario (4 wins), I'd fire Schoen for bad mismanagement of draft picks and contracts, and give Daboll one last shot with his QB next year given he's a "QB whisperer".

However obviously 3-4 wins with a rookie QB buys them another season at least for obvious reasins, hence why it's critical for their job safety they can get the right QB NOW.

What say you?

I don't care how "distracting" a player is, if they are good we need to keep him. Can't afford to be about "locker room culture" or whatever when this team is as bad as they are..

Big Blue Huddle / Re: No tag for Barkley
February 26, 2024, 11:23:08 PM
Quote from: kingm56 on February 26, 2024, 09:55:01 PMBecause Barkley helped so much with the pressure over the last 3+years?  He's a below average pass protector and has demonstrated below average hands over the last few seasons; I simply don't under how the 27 year old Barkley negates pressure on a rookie QB.  The Giants will need guards and WRs to aid a rookie QB...

You underestimate just how awful Tommy and DJ were in regards to their responsiblity for pressures (dead last in tleague) as said by PFF. It is essential we keep him IF we get a rookie QB, you are trusting Eric Gray instead?

I am talking about schemes the defense has when playing against the Giants. No one was worried about DJ, they were worried avbout Saquon which affected his numbers. Give him a better QB like Drake or Daniels and the offense becomes a top 15 offesnse or so next year.

Giants should match whatever he gets offered. If we get a new QB, it's essential he has Saquon to help the pressure.

Quote from: sxdxca38 on February 24, 2024, 10:44:26 PMNo, sadly, that is not what I am saying.

What I said was in the first five games he played against Dallas, San Fran, Seattle, and Miami. All playoff teams, and two had top five defenses. Your defensive competition has an impact on your performance, would you not agree?

And for the record Andrew Thomas their best LT got injured in the opening game against Dallas, second drive I believe. Losing him affects your O line and QB's performance, would you not agree?

T. Taylor played in week 6 against Buffalo, a top 4 defense and put up 9 points.

Now to address your stat, it is too small of a sample size to prove anything, as DJ only played in 6 games, and in the last one he got injured in the 1st quarter.

To further show why I disagree with your statement, is because in 2021 DJ was only responsible for 8% of his total QB pressures, and he played in 11 games.

He was one of the best at not creating pressures that year in the league.

This further shows, that using a small sample size of only 6 games in 2023, is a logical fallacy and can give you faulty results.

I know you want to prove me wrong, but you're going to have to come up with some stronger evidence, and a larger sample size.

Here is my data below, please have a look...

QB's creating pressure

Jones is the 6th highest paid player in the NFL, he does not need your awful excuses about playing against good defenses.

"Too small a sample size LOL".. how about his ENTIRE career in 5 years? Awful.

and ok he was better at avoiding pressure last year, do you not realize he is now once again injured limiting his potential to run and avoid pressure?

What is your purpose with these posts? You ACTUALLY want Jones back next year as the starter?

Big Blue Huddle / Drake Maye thread
February 24, 2024, 05:37:43 AM
I personally see Caleb going first, Daniels after, and if the Pats go MHJ we have an opportunity to trade up for Drake.

This thread is for the true francihse QB of the Giants, Daniels to me is too injury prone and Caleb is going first. All 3 have potential to be francihse QB's, and I'm setting the intention we will draft him.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on February 20, 2024, 05:03:33 PMI think it's you who does not understand what is written.

I am not saying Jones was not responsible for any of those sacks, but that stst is not determining root cause of sacks, just who was most likely to be sacked when pressured.  How many of those were avoidable is a very different thing.

WTF? Buddy....

Quote from: T200 on February 20, 2024, 08:29:07 PMI think that's more in line with your personal viewpoint, not so much fact.

I trust Schoen and Daboll to pick the guy they think and feel will be the best QB to build around for the Giants. If it turns out to be JJ McCarthy, I will root just like I did for Jones. Unless and until...
I trust Daboll especially to pick his guy, and I find it hard to see how he doesn't go with a gun slinger. I think it's all smoke and mirrors with JJ but we'll see. I'm sure Mara would love him...

Quote from: AYM on February 20, 2024, 08:24:24 PMAlso terrible. If you put 2023 Watson on last year's Giants, I don't think he'd be any more productive than Jones was.
well Tyrod and Tommy devito werre both more productive than Jones, so I find that hard to believe.
