Phyllis and I hope to get to practice on Aug 3&4 weather permitting, as well as going to the Sunday bbq.  we also need to allow time for visits with my Mom down the road in Hudson during the fri-sat period so I can't commit to anything other than the bbq on sunday.

Vette...what?  she quit?  I was thinking only of me!!!
#168
no thanks for us on the cigars
#169
we can bring one 18x36" igloo ice chest, and a couple dessert selections.

First, many thanks in advance to George for agreeing to host the BBQ.

Second, will the moderators start a new thread with who's coming and what we should plan to bring?
#171
is anyone tabulating?  if so, consider the many votes for either with no clear preference.
#172
prefer A, but we can do either

today, a team needs three CB's just to start the game [in a passing situation].  given nfl injuries, having a solid 4th CB is a given.  then, 2-3 backups are needed as well.  it's like DE.  for me a lot of this relates to the still absurd 53/45 man roster rules.  you have 22 positions, plus P, K, and LS.  that's 25 guys if no one gets hurt.  53 / 45 just aren't enough unless you want to have starters on the ST's all day long.  and with fatigue and injuries, THAT would diminish the quality of play.

Ottis Anderson? 10,273 YDS, 4.0 AVG, 81 TD 3062 YDS Receiving 5 TD Receiving

Tiki Barder? 10,449 YDS, 4.7 AVG, 55 TD 5183 YDS Receiving 12 TD Receiving

Brandon Jacobs?  4849 YRDS, 4.5 AVG 56 TD 730 YDS Receiving  4 TD Receiving

those are the stats.  some 'what if's'.....
what if Otis had been a Giant for his whole career?
what if tiki had played 2-3 more?
or if BJ had remained a Giant 2-3 more?
Given the #'s and the fact that Otis was a card most of his years, putting aside a player's personal life, off field comments, sour grapes, stupidity, etc. and for me being objective, looking at running, catching, blocking, and the whole package, and I look at the NY Giants, I'll cast a vote for tiki.

OT J. Martin is on neither top 7, but mayock had him going to the Giants at 32 last night on his mock.  I doubt DE Curry will be there but if he is, he'd be a logical and fairly safe pick at 32.  I still will not be shocked if there's a trade involving Osi.
overall, I have:  DE, TE, OL,  in 123,  RB & OL, in 4, and CB, S, WR in 5-6-7.
too many prospects [and not enough info] for me to name names.
But your work is great, Ceri.  Thanks.  Go Giants.

anyone else suspect that JR will go DE at 32 and draft the future OL players in rounds 2-4?
#177
timing in this draft is key with the WR's this year.  some are reaches in the first round and blue light sale bargains if they fall to the 3rd.  lots to pick from.  I see us taking a WR in the first three rounds and I hope it's a guy with Nicks' size or better...another Plax.  unless we think, as JR implies, that we already have that guy and his name is barden.  one of the many write-ups [on yahoo] saw KWright as a potential bust.  like all the other positions, we don't have a glaring need.  I hope to see 2 OL in the top 5 picks, likely a WR & RB and probably a safety.  We did our LB drafting last year unless a real gem slips to us.    this could be a very intriguing draft for us Giants fans.

nice analysis.  thanks for all the hard work.  one other thing really impressed me on this play, and it occurred prior to the snap.....your clips don't show it but the nfl net replay of the game does.

watch MM as he lines up for the play.  he barely nods toward Eli and subtly points down the field...it was just enough to say "I see it too".  MM was seeing where the pats' safeties were set, inside near the hashmarks, as the clips show.  MM correctly read just what Eli was seeing and thinking.  Run the deep sideline pattern.  QB and WR were right on the same line of the same page.  Both knew what the play had to be.  And Eli threw a perfect pass.  Go Giants.

NFL Draft, NY Giants style / Re: Yay...a Terrapin

todge: I saw scott on tv a few times and didn't see such glaring problems.  granted every college RB has to improve in pass blocking but he's not a wuzz.  and at 211 he's knocked over a few tacklers.  maybe not as strong as AB but not every running play goes off guard.

at 211, not so small.  I see him as another AB, whether we res-gn AB or not [I hope we do].  if he can catch the ball consistently it opens some dimensions for Eli that we really haven't exploited since tiki's days;, and a possible second slot receiver shifting out of the backfield on 3rd down.  we had a kid from Maryland a few years ago [DB?] but he didn't make the team.  I'll be excitted to see Scott at camp [you guys too...LOL].  Go Giants
