I have just started watching this and I am about 3/4 of the way thru season 1. As of now, I like it very much.

I am NOT a huge Trekkie and really only watched the original Star Trek and then about half of Star Trek  The Next Generation. After that, except for the movies, I have not followed all the future series that came out.
I attend (now with Zoom) a group from a library that we discuss things we are watching on TV and try to find a show that we all might like, watch and discuss (like a book discussion group). So Discovery was mentioned as several have also followed along and just finished season 3. Most of us are still in its infancy but since I do like it, I'll continue with it.

Actually, it's the exact same for me Lenny - not a huge Trekkie fan either, but liked the new movies (the ones with Chris Pine) and a friend of mine told me about Discovery on Netflix.

I watched the first 2 season in like 2 weeks, like a maniac and they were pretty cool... Season 3 I went along with the releases until today.  ;)

Have you seen Star Trek: Picard? Wonder if it's worth watching.

I tried that but the accents for me is so hard to understand. I usually watch with the captions on, but use them to pick up some of the words I miss. On this series which several people have recommended, I just really had a hard time following along and was missing the context of the show trying to do that.

Understand your point. I resolved the matter by changing the language to Italian (my native language).  ;)

Another one, maybe not so easy so I'll put up two quot3es from the same movie

"Seeing is believing, but sometimes the most real things in the world are the things we can't see."

And

" This bell is a wonderful symbol of the spirit of Christmas - as am I. Just remember, the true spirit of Christmas lies in your heart."

The Polar Express?

And another, not truly a softball, but close

"Why not? What if don't buy any of this Santa Clause thing? What if I choose not to believe it?"

[a dead silence falls upon the workshop]

"Then there would be millions of disappointed children around the world. You see, children hold the spirit of Christmas within their hearts. You don't wanna be responsible for killing the spirit of Christmas, now would you... Santa?"

Santa Clause with Tim Allen?

This could be tough. Closing lines:

"36?  Wake up number 37."
"Wake up."

I have literally NO IDEA on that one...

Way to go, Gordon!  I thought that was a hard one.

It was one of Jim Caviezel's most expressive lines in the movie in my view.

"I need a raise."
"Why?"
"I need the money for my family. I want to send my son to a better school."
"When did you get a family?"
"Don't ask. I don't know."

From the same movie

"When I get hurt, the hole is bigger, because I'm smaller."
