I don't adore Mike Glennon for the record. It is a funny avatar and Glennon looked funny to me in general, especially while playing. It is kind of sad that the Daniel Jones experiment has me looking forward to such things as a funny looking, Napolean Dynamite kind of guy, playing QB here -- and admittedly very badly. But such is life in the Mara controlled Giants for the pat decade.

I can't stand a QB who can't pass and relies on RPO and running. Having an edge is great. Having a tackle is great but it is not in the realm of a franchise QB which is an elite prospect.

Winning games at this point means jones still gets tone qb here which is pretty much means I have better things to do on Sunday at this point.

Quote from: Doc16LT56 on November 19, 2023, 07:33:32 PMThis is now life as a Giants fan. The Parcells and Coughlin eras are distant memories. Since Coughlin was so unceremoniously pushed out we are stuck in a loop of debating whether winning a meaningless game against a bad team is worth it. We debate whether we've seen enough of a mediocre (on a good day) QB going into his 6th season to determine whether he is actually mediocre or not.

Thank you, Mr. Mara for your steadfast leadership. If there was a Dave Gettleman lifetime achievement award for excellence in incompetence, John Mara would be a finalist every year.

yea cool. Maybe they can run the table with their 3rd string rookie QB; go to first place from last place; embarrass a division rival like Eagles 40-somthing to nothing like the Cowboys ; and then maybe win the Super bowl. With their "winning culture" next year they can do it again , and this time it'll be Daniel 's turn. They will procure all-pro OL and WRs and Daniel will get his ring too!

I was more excited about an elite QB propect.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 19, 2023, 11:05:12 PMI'm much more conformable with the Giants winning a few games and their qb coming to them naturally than tanking or trading picks. The teams that have actually hit on qbs recently were all playoff teams the ÿear before the draft in the Eagles, Bill's, and Chiefs. With Burrow, Lawrence, and Herbet being the exceptions but still. The odds are better if you let the Qb come to you whether it's whenever you pick in the 1st or in the 2nd-7th than reaching into the top. Since 2010 41 qbs have been taken in the 1st round and only 1 of those qbs has a super bowl win. Only 11 of those 41 Qbs were signed to a 2nd contract.

Bill B already proved that no matter how good a coach you are players win games. He aid that himself. Obviously good coaching has something to withit ,but what is Daboll Bill Parcels or something? What is sacred about Daboll. He is coaching a last place team and face facts -- this team is not going to do jack xxxx against the Eagles and had embarrassing losses to the Cowboys this year.

Your numbers are circumstantial evidence. QBs don't just come to you. Look at the Detriot Lions. They went and got a cast off and bunch of picks.

Who is excited about winning games at this point? We are in last place -- not making the playoffs-- in need of a QB (I do not think anyone is arguing with me about that at this point any longer)-- and there are elite ones to be had in the draft. I mean good for Tommy but Tyrod already prroved that a QB can get this offense moving behinf that line. The fact an undrafted did it is just icing one the cake.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on November 09, 2023, 11:57:03 AMHes not an elite or even great qb prosoect you just made him out to be the end all be all and got upset because the Giants didn't draft him.

The NFL decided he wasnt an elite or even great Qb by letting him fall to the 2nd round, his comp is Tannehill/Jones and why would we as a fan base won't more of that? He's extremely hot and cold as a player, he'll look good one moment and horrible the next, couldn't beat out very pedestrian qbs at Penn st and is not a volume thrower.

The difference in Stroud and Levis as NFL QB prospects is the same as the difference in a pit bull and poodle.

I never made him out to be that. You are moving the goal posts now. Before it was he could not beat out Malik Willis as a back up. Now you are back to to repeating the same arguments about his draft position.

Sometimes teams with other positional needs get picked later. Dan Marino got picked 27th? Aaron Rodgers got picked 24th.

Not saying that is Levis' calling to be an all time great Hall of famer but things happen.

With the benefit of hindsight picking Levis would have been a really good idea.

And since when is Tannehill the same thing as Daniel Jones? Tannehill has put up legit top 10 passing stats at one time. He has won play off games against Tom Brady. If Daniel Jones starts another game would be a shock to me.

I guess it is just funny to me to watch teams draft / play QBs ; make moves at QB; jettison QBs because they are making too much money ... while we just let ours play on scholarship. Also people here were saying that he sucked because he didn't get drafted in the first round and he could not even beat out Malik Willis for the back up spot. All that has obviously been proven wrong.

170+ Views and not one thought on Levis. He was out there for the taking on draft night.

I am pretty sure he thinks he is a better QB than Eli Mannning especially when they played together. Eli Manning also had his brother and was always in his shadow. It always seems like it is something.

I think this year Jones has had the RPO option taken away from him for whatever reason since most defenses were not respecting the pass for whatever reason. Jones has always been an RPO heavy player. I have some strange feeling that he will overcome it this week against the Raiders . I watched some of them last night and they really suck.

I am pretty sure this puts him ahead of Malik Wills on the depth chart.

@ Mighy

Why are you jumping through hoops to prop up Daniel Jones?

We all know what Tyrod Taylor is . I don't think the question is if Tyrod is the better QB .

The real question is how is a journey man back up in the conversation with a QB being paid like a top 10 QB and is this oline and skill player to blame.

The answer clearly is it's Daniel jones fault. And let's see him play another game or like five or six more . Barkley was able to dive for a TD in that cardinal game from Luke the 10 yard line. He couldn't get in from the two yard line he Bills. If he got would we even be having this discussion?

This is a good Jones game. Sucky team / I expect him to shine and the jONES CREW TO BE LIKE "tYROD sMYROD" Daniel Jones is the franchise QB he hung 30 on a team with a 5th round QB playing.
#195
I'm sure the Bills were expecting a total push over and had jones played is exactly what would have happened.

Tyrod Taylor scared the xxxx out of them. I'd like to see more from this QB and what he can do with these guys like Pugh and the rest of the o-line  and Waller ; wen del; and WR rookie and Slayton.
