Big Blue Huddle / Re: Minnesota acquired 23rd pick

What I suspected..Vikings all in for a qb..probably JJ. Giants can't compete with the Norse ammo and shouldn't trade  up. Jim Boy wants to stockpile young, cheap talent.

Quote from: Gmo11 on March 15, 2024, 12:23:18 AMI don't know that it really impacts the Giants all that much. The first 3 picks are going to be QBs in some order. Arizona and SD are going forward with their QBs so they weren't taking QB4. And everyone knows the Giants will likely take QB4. So unless you think this makes SD less likely to trade that pick this trade does not have much of an impact towards the Giants.

What does seem to be the case is that without a trade this draft should go

QB
QB
QB
WR
WR

Which means the Giants get left with either the 4th QB or the 3rd WR. Not ideal.

Nabers and Odunze you could go back and forth on. I've said all along I'd like to see them add picks, not JJ.

The Chargers, however, weren't taking a qb with Herbert. But I thought of them as a potential trade partner with the Vikings. Now, no Allen (coming off a career year) may force their hand to draft a wr.

That's when the intrigue could really ramp up. JJ, whom they may covet, and the Norsemen; who definitely want him. Adding to this, what if the Pats shock us and take the best player in the draft: MHJ?

:-??

The Giants are "locked" into Jones' contract regardless of the Lock signing this year. That would be a fireable offense if Schoen were to leave the Giants in worse cap hell by cutting him

Quote from: AYM on March 14, 2024, 11:29:11 PMWhy this is huge for the Giants:

With Arizona trading Rondale Moore, and San Diego losing both WRs, WR is a huge need for both of them, increasing the likelihood that at least one of those big 4 QBs will be there at #6.

And if it's not a QB that Schoen or Daboll like, someone likely will, meaning we could flip the pick.

The Vikings seem to be lurking as suitors trading up for JJ.

If you're right, then a trade down could happen or qb an option now. And either Nabers or Odunze should be there. Very fluid position currently.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants still RB shopping

Ray Davis isn't a freak like Jacobs He is more compact with speed, vision and cutback ability. Really effective type of runner that has a burst. Would be a nice fit with Singletary. 5th year senior who never lost a fumble too. 14 tds last year.

Jolly,

It's also Stupid Season for a lot of teams GMs.A consideration if someone offers the Giants a package for the 6th pick; that would be ideal with our deficiencies to be met.

Case in point: The Panthers trading up for their munchkin  qb. last year.

The Vikings are going to look to trade up. .JJ? Harbaugh is a likely partner..wants to add talent cheap and avoid the Charger card with the Bolts so deep in cap trouble (Just cut wr Williams).

Giants have to be on top of that scenario as well. Gets real interesting now.

Quote from: brownelvis54 on March 13, 2024, 01:55:59 PMI would be pissed....giving up all that draft capital?? Just take Malik Nabers or Rome Odunze at #6

Correctamundo. Can't stand a likely pro bowl wr? Don't get it. Stand pat..get your #1 wr, add a CB, then a DT. That would be ideal for me..

Bears WR Darnell Mooney got a 39- million deal from the Falcons. Geesh. He's a number 3 at best. Players making hay with the cap upgrade.

Quote from: londonblue on March 13, 2024, 06:16:56 AMHunter does not quite have Burns A+ speed/bend but is a much more rounded player with better hand use, more power and better edge set vs. run. He is also 4 years older and had more injuries.

Right now Hunter is the better player. In two or three years time that might look different. Burns has been acquired as a foundational piece. Hunter would be more of a bridge.

Spot on. You also have to factor in the residual effect with Thibs. Makes the DL a real threat for the opposition. Burns was in pass coverage too much with the Panthers. Wide nine him a lot and let him attack.

When I saw him last, he looked much better with his decision making against the Eagles. Granted, their back seven were awful, but he did engineer a 92-yard drive to win the game.

Daboll should help him, too. He fits a need-vet backup. Would you rather have Zach Wilson.. Redfaced ? Lol.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: RB Devin Singletary To Giants
March 12, 2024, 11:17:03 PM
Watching tape on Singletary and he has good vision plus cutback ability. Isn't spectacular but solid. Avoids tackles for loss. Lots of outside/inside zone schemes for him with Texans.

And he stays healthy!
