Big Blue Huddle / Re: Most hated rivals

I don't hate Rivals, I respect them. These players are among the finest athletes on the planet.

It's the fan base that I will base my disgust or appreciation for. Pittsburgh and GB fans travel well. Philly and Dallas fans do not and they can be obnoxious and boorish. Some pick fights.

I root against the Eagles at all times living in North Jersey. Portions of South Jersey are Eagle fans. Another reason for a Dakota type split in this state. Two different universes.

What about NFL Gameday? I have the App on my phone but also my TV. If you're out of the area, wouldn't you be able to watch it there? For $14 a month I get that, Redzone and Replay.

"Top NFL Analysts weigh in."

I'm inclined to say he becomes a top notch backup because he doesn't have the long ball, but he can have much success as a starter in the right system. This is why we only saw one attempt to Hyatt on a Deep Post which fell short. Although I felt that if he set up properly he may have been able to lead him. I need to see that he can make those throws before endorsement. I think the Giants draft a QB with more of a cannon and see what happens. A couple of opportunities he didn't go for against GB were routes over 40 yards.

Still I have an open mind and you gotta love the kid and what he brings to the table.

Quote from: GloryDays on December 13, 2023, 10:53:09 PMEnjoyed this a lot ... We saw glimpses of his ability in preseason, and he has definitely improved too. I am amazed how he can read defenses and his assessment of the field to make such correct decisive decisions!  =D>
Yes and there's a lot to take away from it. Great game by TD but there were opportunities he missed and a bad decision he got lucky on. Also saw some great play schemes and he highlighted some great WR moves and mistakes. For example the hitch by WDR to fake out his Corner and create separation for that sideline catch or Hyatt having an opportunity to sit in a soft spot on the numbers but he kept going on that shallow crosser. Which I'm sure was pointed out to him in his meeting today. Great stuff.

Take the time to watch The Phillips segment blocking Rashan Gary. Some nice work there and quite frankly, he's made some strides and it's in the best interests of the team and Tommy DeVito for him to finish out the season there. Bobby makes a comment about his improvement since he came back from Philadelphia. It was sustained blocks like these that gave TD either time in the pocket or to get yards by taking off. It might have been a different outcome with Neal out there.

If he winds up getting a starting role somewhere, he's going to take good care of his family.

They did do a good job of sustaining blocks which did help Tommy maneuver and navigate through to make plays with his legs and arm. Even though they gave up pressure and they did have a few good pockets when he needed them.

I like that Daboll rewarded them with the game ball. Maybe some weight will be taken off their shoulders and a ray of sunshine peeks through their cloud. They needed the confidence.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Giants vs. Saints

Quote from: SlotCorner on December 13, 2023, 05:19:08 PMIn the early 2000s me and my buddies went down to watch the Giants play in New Orleans twice, through Big Blue Travel or whatever. Both times the Giants got absolutely housed by double digits. One of the games Jesse Palmer started, to give you an idea. Bourbon Street makes it easier to drown your sorrows, but the Saints fans let us have it everywhere we went, not that I blame them.
In the 2011 Season Playoffs the Giants we're going to face either the Saints or the Niners. I had a friend in Florida so we decided to take a chance and bought the Saints tickets fully refundable and drove to New Orleans. Great trip and great city and we watched the Niners game in a Sports Bar. I think the Giants were lucky because I don't know if they would have beaten the Saints.

Quote from: Ed Vette on December 13, 2023, 12:42:23 PMBob. I'm seeing a pattern here with Daboll and Tommy. One week Jalin was featured, the next it was Saquon and this past week it was WDR. If the Giants can have an effective Rushing attack as I expect, we might see Waller featured if the Saints Linebackers cheat up in the Box. If not him, then maybe Cager has earned some Target time. Did you know he leads the team in Yards after catch with 7.7 YAC? The downside is it's only 3 Receptions. But he's become more of a willing Blocker.
I like this approach with a Rookie QB. Scheme and feature a target for Tommy's primary read and dumb down the progressions.

Rich, I expect to see the league do a study to determine if there needs to be rule changes to protect these QBs. This is crazy. I also think it's time to allow the 3rd QB to be elevated and not count towards the 47 at some point.
