Quote from: londonblue on January 03, 2024, 12:48:56 PMToday probably Brock Bowers over Nabers as Bowers will improve both our pass and run game, even though taking a TE that high would probably make me want to trade back a touch if possible.

Alt and Fashanu would have to get real consideration but I think we will invest in a veteran RT and G in our continuing efforts to solidify our OL then draft another G day 2 or 3.

If we do bypass R1 Ts there are possible R3/4 developmental tackles like Paul from Houston and Amegadjie from Yale who might well get a hard look.

I think you reach a point where you ask yourself if investing premium draft capital yet again in the T position is wise.  As much as I believe you're only as good as the front 5 (and ours ain't good) I've also come around to the idea that good lines don't all have to be top end picks.  Developing day 2/3 picks can and has worked. Just need the right people in the role of developer and that has been an elusive search far too long

With apologies to Bo Diddley and George Thorogood, who are you drafting if Harrison, Williams, Maye and Daniels are gone by pick 5?

Trade back is not an option.

Quote from: uconnjack8 on January 03, 2024, 11:17:07 AMWhat a jackass.  Is there some feud with Kimmel?

From what I understand, the source of the friction goes back to COVID, vaxxing. He called out Rodgers for misleading people with his "I'm immunized" comment and things between the two deteriorated from there

Quote from: Fletch on January 02, 2024, 10:21:10 AMBarkley is basically not a good receiving running back. He never was. despite this Daboll and Kafka insist on him trying to get in open space with a safe little screen pass and hope Barkley jukes somebody. It never works but, rather than grow a pair and look to a more vertical threat will Hyatt Waller and Robinson and Slayton.

His rookie year he caught 91 passes for nearly 800 yards and over 50 receptions two other years. Disagree with the statement that he never was a good receiving back

I get it's a direct quote. I just don't believe him for a second that he would really rest guys

As mentioned in another thread, Beagles won't be feeling good if they limp into playoffs 1-5 in last six games.  IMO they desperately need a win and I don't believe Siriani will rest a significant number of guys ( injuries not included). Not unless they steamroll and the game gets out of hand, do I see him sitting starters

Can someone find a situation where a team playing as poorly as the Eagles down the stretch (1-4 in last 5) has had a successful playoff run?  If they lose to us, or win but don't play well, I can't see them feeling good about their chances. I believe the coaches are going to view this as the beginning of the post season and as such, prepare and play accordingly.

Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 30, 2023, 12:11:06 PMThat Missouri v Ohio St game was hard to watch.

Here hoping my team pulls it out on Penn St here in a second.

Then get ready for Georgia to slaughter FSU.

Anyone else pumped for college football?

I am but with so many of these guys pulling out the games so far have been snooze inducing. Good article in today's WAPO on how the overlap in timing of the transfer portal and the early signing period, coupled with the guys opting out of games, have contributed to less than compelling bowl seasons the last few years

12/30/62...Giants lose 16-7 to Packers in NFL championship game. Our first year as season ticket holders and I have never been colder during a game than I was that day. Though only 12, my Dad did his best to keep me warm by adding a drop of antifreeze to my hot chocolate ("don't tell your Mother!) :D

12/29/63 the Giants lost 14-10 to the Bears in NFL Championship game.  I still can't forgive Shofner for dropping an easy TD pass that would have put us up 14-0 ~X(

If we can't get the QB we like at wherever we are picking, the guy I would have a hard time passing on is Dallas Turner.  In every Bama game I've watched his relentless pursuit off the edge reminds me somewhat of LT. He's all over the place!  I'm looking forward to watching how he does against Michigan on New Year's Day

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 25, 2023, 11:55:06 AMWe got collectively better QB play from our QB2 and QB3 behind the same line than we did from our QB1. I personally find that very problematic. Moreover the QB1 simply cannot stay on the field. He routinely sustains very serious injuries. It has happened in four out of his five years as a pro. I find that very problematic as well.

Agree that play from #s2&3 has gotten better but to suggest that they've done so behind same line as #1 just isn't true.  Since the second Dallas game (game 10) it's been the same crew left to right.  That was #3 first start.  Stalwarts such as Neal, Glowinski, Ezeudu, McKethan, Lemieux haven't seen the field, yet each saw significant time during the first half

Quote from: Dumpster Dan on December 15, 2023, 05:27:25 PMSorry  I should have been more specific--I think Leek has a typo   I think the Panthers would have to upset Atlanta to have his scenario work out

I get the point though   its amazing that the Giants are NOT mathematically eliminated yet--and damn well do have a chance--Huge game this weekend  but win Sunday and then they would need to win two out of three--a very very very tall order   UNLESS the Eagles play their scrubs last game of the year..  To take it further--If the Giants win vs the Saints and lose to the Rams  it is over--doesnt matter what happens in the last game

Remember Jimmy I had the same math training as you did   LOL!!!!

Why do you think I have a hard time talking about next years draft when this season isnt over yet??

My bad.  Had I read the original post more closely I would have noticed the error re: Falcons outcome. Clearly you had better training in reading comprehension than I did!
