Quote from: Jclayton92 on December 06, 2023, 05:45:44 PMTrade would be the only way it happens I just don't see any team that would be willing to give him the remainder of the contract unless he restructured. From my look at the numbers the team trading for him would be on the hook for 3 year 112-113 million. And we would just be on the hook for 33 million over 3 years at 11 a year.
Like I said, trade him in season. The Giants are on the hook for $81 million guaranteed at signing. That is his Bonus plus the 23 and 24 year salary. A trade would at first glance give the Giants 69 million in dead cap and nothing for the new team. The new team would be liable the fifth day of the 2025 season for $11 million that year.

However, I believe a deal can be made to cover the 2024 salary by the trade partner or a portion there of. In 2025 the trade partner would be able to cut Jones any time after that fifth day guarantee and only have a cap hit of 11 million or nothing if they cut him before hand.

It's an excellent contract that Schoen protected the Franchise with.

Looks like injuries hurt Andrew Thomas and Dex.

It was an erroneous report from a bad resource. Rodgers and the HC had the kid's back.

Just in time for TT after the Giants get their asses kicked by GB.

Disagree. It's DE/DT. They have to replace Leo.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 06, 2023, 01:24:11 PMPerhaps during the season that could be possible, but it's really hard to see any way it happens in the offseason unless the Giants eat an enormous amount of the contract, which I myself can't see them doing.
next season.

There is always the possibility that Jones gets traded next season.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 06, 2023, 12:44:24 PMSure, but that doesn't change the reality that he in fact has played against a quality D, and he was not good at all in that game.
In his second game he faces Dallas and scores 2 TD's. Jones a 5 year starter had about the same completion %, 0 TD's and Tommy with 2.5 more AY/A. 17 points vs zippo. Do you think Tommy would not have faired better after 5 years in the league? 2nd start...

Quote from: Bob In PA on December 06, 2023, 12:05:54 PMEd: Good point.  I'd be willing to bet if Giants let him (Tyrod) walk, some team somewhere will hire him.

He knows he can count on a good recommendation and that will carry huge weight.

The bad news is he'll probably have to move his family again (but IMO that is the only bad news).

Bob
There are about five teams that will be drafting a QB. He's a good mentor and backup like he was here. I'm sure he will get a job.

Well, he is getting paid 11 million dollars to start three games passing for 640 yards, and three TDs over two seasons. There is that. That can't be too disappointing.

I get it but I think there was a better way he could have fielded those questions.

The Giants Defense fell apart that day.

Big Blue Huddle / Re: Daboll- Tommy is still the man

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on December 06, 2023, 07:04:42 AMIf TT still has lingering pain/soreness despite being cleared then it makes the decision a lot easier. Taylor is injury-prone period, so it's pointless to put him out there if he's anything less than 100% when the Giants have a guy who is now 2-1 as a starter on a team that is 4-8 overall.

At the end of the day, much is being made of this, but it's not some earth shattering decision. Both QBs have played better than Jones was playing this year before he got hurt, but neither has been overly impressive. Either way, we need much better QB play over the long term, and in my opinion nobody presently on the roster offers that.
I put that Jets loss on Daboll and Kafka.
