Quote from: ozzie on September 29, 2023, 01:29:56 PMIf he's not 100%, I say sit him. No need having this become a season long lingering injury.
Unfortunately, he's been sitting, and its looking like it's becoming a lingering injury.

Quote from: Rambo89 on September 28, 2023, 01:12:05 PMYou know I hadn't thought about this but when I looked up Jones's career splits Home vs Road I was shocked at the gap. Despite playing one fewer game on the road in his career he has 8 more TD's, 300 more passing yards, 10 fewer INT's and sacked 13 fewer times on the road vs at home. Interesting thing though is that he has almost 300 more yards rushing at home (52 more attempts at home) than on the road. So there is definitely a pattern that makes you ask why he has thrown the ball better on the road and why he is running more at home. Obviously the weather at the Meadowlands is likely a factor but he also has played road games in Philly and Washington late in the year.
Is the a reason for the gap or is it just a coincidence to this point in his career?
On edit:
I went and dug deeper and found that this was mainly impacted by his 2019-2021 splits. His 2022 splits actually were a lot better at home than they were on the road. Though he was averaging 30 more passing yards per game on the road his TD splits were better at home. He also had better rushing numbers at home.
Quote from: Philosophers on September 25, 2023, 11:57:03 PMThrough 3 games:
CJ - 78/121 (64.5%) 906 yds, 4 TDs/0 INTs, 7.5 Y/A, 11.6 Y/C, Rate 98, Sacks 11, Sack % 8.3%
DJ - 63/97 (64.9%) 562 yds, 2 TDs/4 INTs 5.8 Y/A, 8.9 Y/C, Rate 70, Sacks 12, Sack % 11%
CJ's WRs - Nico Collins, Robert Woods, Tank Dell + TE Dalton Schultz
CJ's OL - Laremy Tunsil, Josh Jones, Michael Deiter, Shaq Mason, George Fant
CJ's RB - Dameon Pierce
Texans Offense Ranking - 13th (Yards)
Texans Defense Ranking - 16th (Yards)
1st year QB who is throwing for about the same completion % but a lot more yards and has been sacked about the same amount. CJ's Y/A and Y/C is much higher. When I look at the players on offense for the Texans, I hardly say, "wow, so much more talent around CJ than what DJ has."
Houston played New England, Miami and the New Orleans Saints.
So what are the reasons the Texans have better passing results through 3 games with a 1st year QB?
Quote from: Rambo89 on September 25, 2023, 10:54:10 AMBut the Giants did draft Barkley and did have him on offense. We all saw what he became as an NFL player and the results it produced. So I am not sure how drafting Parsons would have changed the Giants on the offensive side of the ball.
Quote from: Ed Vette on September 24, 2023, 07:57:08 PMI didn't read any remarks here or anywhere that put the blame of this game on DJ. Did you mean collectively all three games?
I think you made a clear point that the breaks aren't going their way and that also had an affect on the outcome.
Physicality, game plan, focus, injuries, tackling, bad luck, talent, play calling. You're spot on, it's a lot of things they need to work through.

This was a horrible throw, and one that cannot be excused if one is a franchise guy
Quote from: T200 on January 24, 2023, 08:39:28 AMDak and DJ both choked. Dak's was worse because, as you said, the teams were fairly matched.
The Giants were clearly overmatched talent-wise and definitely outcoached. Jones reverted back to last season where he was indecisive and shell-shocked.
Quote from: Ed Vette on January 23, 2023, 10:12:19 AMIt wasn't Jones' fault they lost the game but he didn't play well in a do or die game and he lost some luster. The after game look on Daboll's face and his immediate comments had reality written all over it.
For Jones it will take a village...
This was my trepidation with him two years ago. He's worked hard and Daboll has masked some of his shortcomings but I see a lot of Dak Prescott in DJ.
I don't see them mortgaging the future for his services.
Quote from: Jclayton92 on January 20, 2023, 01:04:34 PMI'm genuinely surprised that no one has made a thread on the similarities to this season and the 2007 season yet so I'll do it without creating a new thread.
*First off Both super bowls are in Arizona.
*Both Qbs on their 4th year that had serious doubt going into the season and turned it around.
*Beat a divisional winner in the wild card that the media wasn't sold on(Bucs/Vikes).
*Beat the #1 seed Divison rival on the road (Cowboys/potentially Eagles)
*NFC championship on the road hostile blue blood match up (Green bay/49ers)
*Super bowl is on Fox like it was in 2007 and we would be heavy underdogs against a KC/Buf/Cincy.
*Giants won the 1st the London game in 2007, and won this season in London.
