Why is out ST unit so unprepared? Every week we have a new returner who doesn't know what the F he is doing?! Can't even get to the right spot? Are they freaking blind?!! 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I would add two points to this good discussion on the glaring Giants problem :

1- I believed than DJ is elite. I might have been wrong. There is a fine line between elite and very good. Elite QBs can dust themselves off after each sack or pressure and calmly but quickly assess the action on the next plays and still throw the ball to any receiver that has a bit of separation. Jones looks like is not one of those QBs since in this last game where he was under constant pressure, he paniced and missed open guys; however, DJ has shown many times that when he has a reliable pocket CONSTANTLY, he can do his job well. If I am right, then he is a very good QB and the goal should be, and it should have been, to make sure we have a good O line to protect his pocket, not the crap that they have put together, based just on hope and quite unprofessionally.

2- Not every scout or GM who is a knowledgeable football guy, even a great one, has the ability to assess talent at all positions. Schoen and his staff obviously have not much clue in correctly evaluating O line talent. It does not matter how much draft or FA Capital is devoted to fix the line, their choices are more wrong than right. Hitting on one out of 3 high picks makes it clear. It's like you take a Mercedes with a transmission problem to a reputable shop that specializes in Japanese engines. They can not fix it themselves.

Quote from: Rambo89 on October 02, 2023, 01:39:59 PMThat doesn't answer the question but can see how it always has to be about the line to deflect away.

It's the obvious truth but some with Jones derangement syndrome have blurry glasses that do not allow them to see the obvious.

Our back up RBs are capable of running effectively if the O line does its job. Same with DJ.
It's all on the line.

Injuries happen, but some teams look for less injury prone players than the Giants seem to. Also, lack of preparation and quality depth, specially at Oline is the real problem.

Quote from: DaveBrown74 on September 30, 2023, 12:19:03 PMExcellent point.

If I told you back in August that the Giants would be 2-2 coming out of week four, would you really have been shocked and devastated by that?

Through four games we will have played two of the best teams in football, plus a third team that beat us last year and made the playoffs. Not to mention we will have gotten our road Thursday night game out of the way. I'm sorry but if you're 2-2 coming out of that start, that's not the end of the world.

That's why winning on Monday is so damn important. If we can get that done, we're right where we were supposed to be.

If you isolate the numbers of wins and losses and also assume we'll win the 4th game, you make sense; however, the way they have played so far makes me really concerned about the 4th game and the fifth and the sixth games against better teams; so based on performance so far, I see the possibility of 1-3 or even 1-5 much higher than a 2-2.
Of course my heart is hoping that you are right.. that somehow the O line will turn it around, the play calling will be better and the defense decides to play with balls and hit hard.

It all starts and ends with the performance of our O line... We need a drastic reversal in their performance.

Second year of the same system and coaches, plus expected improvements particularly on offense, I expect at least same success as last year, 9 wins.
I expect to win back my lost wagers from two years ago.. or may be that is why they are losing?! 🤔

Quote from: Dgoodmantrublu on September 28, 2023, 08:15:41 PMBranch isn't really a corner. More of a safety. Doesn't cover players on the outside. I wanted Banks from the get go and I am very happy with what we've seen so far.

Branch is so good he can play CB or even LB if asked.
To be honest I thought banks was over-rated; I was pleasantly surprised at his play and improvement... hopefully he will become what you thought he is.

I appreciate Tiki for being a fan of the Giants first and a commentator second... someone had to say it who was an X giant great.

Commanders stole Forbes, my favorite CB in the draft, followed by Branch who the Lions stole in the 2nd.
